A blistering 4.95-second final average by Xuanyi Geng (耿暄一) in the classic 3x3x3 Cube set the tone for a breathtaking day of speedcubing. Travelling across provinces and borders, an international field assembled in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China for a packed single-day showcase on June 15, 2025. Competitors journeyed into the coastal city to test their skills at the Zhuhai Hongsanyi Hotel, turning the gathering into a vibrant focal point for the regional cubing community across 13 fast-moving rounds.

The journey proved rewarding for many visiting solvers who made their way to this 2025 WCA competition. Alongside a massive domestic presence, participants from Hong Kong, Macau, and the USA made the trip to battle across six distinct events. In total, 202 competitors took to the solving stations, each bringing their own preparation to the tables after navigating travel logistics to secure their spot on the roster.

The premier Rubik's Cube category featured a massive field of 190 entrants across three elimination rounds. In the decisive third round, Xuanyi Geng delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship with that 4.95 winning mark, supported by a rapid single of 4.37. Yiheng Wang (王艺衡) took second place with a 5.25 average, while Zhen Chen (陈震) completed the podium in third with an average of 6.07. These world-class 3x3 results highlighted the extraordinary depth of talent assembled at the tables.

Yiheng Wang stood out across multiple disciplines throughout the cubing competition, capturing two event victories. In the 2x2x2 Cube final, Wang secured first place with an extraordinary 1.01 average and a best single of 0.70, holding off Ziyu Ye (叶梓渝), who claimed second with 1.19, and Jiekai Li (李杰凯), who took third with 1.56. Wang also took the top spot in Pyraminx with a 2.39 winning average, outpacing Carson Clark (张卡森) of the USA at 2.67 and Timothy Kong Wing Sum (江永琛) of Hong Kong at 2.70.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, significant milestones and massive personal breakthroughs filled the arena floor. Ziyu Liang (梁梓煜) tackled four events and recorded huge improvements, cutting their 3x3x3 One-Handed personal best by 62.2 percent down to 31.96 seconds, shaving 61.5 percent off their Skewb mark to hit 10.20, and trimming their 3x3x3 Cube best by 25 percent to 10.00. Ip Wang Hei (葉泓希) also enjoyed a standout run across five disciplines, reducing their one-handed best by 53.8 percent to 21.05 and dropping their 2x2x2 mark by 23.6 percent to 3.95 while making their first ever attempt at Skewb with a 15.16 result.

Other solvers embraced new territory and made major strides across the board. Ruixuan Dong (董睿轩) entered two events, logging a first ever attempt at 2x2x2 Cube with 4.88 seconds and reducing their 3x3x3 Cube best by 40.1 percent down to 8.18. Guangtong Quan (全广通) contested five events, achieving a best finish of 5th in 3x3x3 One-Handed, recording a Pyraminx personal best of 5.46 that was 16.6 percent faster, and making initial career attempts in both Square-1 at 17.45 and Skewb at 4.82. Chenxi Wang (王辰熙) stepped up for three events, logging first attempts in One-Handed at 35.53 and 2x2x2 at 6.46 alongside a 12.7 percent 3x3x3 improvement to 11.99. Tianqiao Chen (陈天桥) contested four events, posting debut marks in Skewb at 6.18, One-Handed at 35.98, and Pyraminx at 5.70.

The regional record books also shifted during the afternoon heats, led by a milestone performance in the 2x2x2 Cube. Chan Sai Chong (陳世聰) of Macau delivered a standout showing, recording a 1.88 single and establishing a new National record average of 2.33. The achievement drew admiration across the venue, underscoring how international participation enriched the standard of play across the event schedule.

In other specialty disciplines, Zhen Chen demonstrated exceptional dexterity to claim the 3x3x3 One-Handed title with an 8.85 winning average and an 8.14 best single, leading Chengnuo Han (韩承诺) at 11.68 and Zixiong Xu (徐梓雄) at 11.89. Kaixi Guo (郭铠希) took first place in Skewb with a 1.82 average ahead of Ziyu Ye at 2.67 and Carson Clark at 3.89. Square-1 saw Zijia Liu (刘子甲) take victory with an 8.14 average, followed by Timothy Kong Wing Sum at 8.59 and Haohan Zheng (郑皓涵) at 9.02.

As the final timers were packed away, China led the overall medal haul with 14 podium finishes, joined by two podiums apiece for Hong Kong and the United States. The Zhuhai Open 2025 delivered an exceptional day of high-level speed cubing, rewarding the dedicated solvers who travelled far to compete and setting a high standard for the competitive year ahead.

二阶魔方同样展现了极高水平的争夺，共有107人参赛。Yiheng Wang (王艺衡)展现统治力，以1.01秒的平均成绩和0.70秒的单次成绩夺得冠军。Ziyu Ye (叶梓渝)以1.19秒获得亚军，Jiekai Li (李杰凯)以1.56秒收获季军。在该项目中，来自中国澳门的Chan Sai Chong (陳世聰)以2.33秒打破二阶魔方国家/地区纪录平均成绩。

单手与异形项目同样竞争激烈。在86人出战的三阶单手项目中，Zhen Chen (陈震)以8.85秒的平均成绩登顶，Chengnuo Han (韩承诺)与Zixiong Xu (徐梓雄)分别以11.68秒和11.89秒位列二三位。金字塔项目中，Yiheng Wang (王艺衡)以2.39秒平均成绩再夺一冠，Carson Clark (张卡森)与Timothy Kong Wing Sum (江永琛)分获亚军和季军。

斜方项目共有47人参赛，Kaixi Guo (郭铠希)以1.82秒的优异平均成绩摘取金牌，Ziyu Ye (叶梓渝)以2.67秒获得第二，Carson Clark (张卡森)以3.89秒名列第三。在31人参与的SQ1赛场上，Zijia Liu (刘子甲)以8.14秒的平均成绩折桂，Timothy Kong Wing Sum (江永琛)和Haohan Zheng (郑皓涵)分别以8.59秒与9.02秒登上领奖台。

在耀眼的领奖台之外，多位选手的突破构成了Zhuhai Open 2025赛场上动人的风景。Qianhan Zhang (张乾翰)参加了5个项目，在金字塔项目中斩获5.78秒的个人最好成绩，较原先的12.76秒大幅提升54.7%。Mason Tao (陶明煊)参加了2个项目，二阶魔方取得4.82秒的成绩，较此前的10.04秒提速52%，三阶魔方也跑出17.22秒刷新原纪录20.85秒。Ruixi Chen (陈睿希)出战3个项目，金字塔取得7.52秒大幅突破原有的14.93秒，二阶取得1.83秒刷新2.74秒并拿下二阶第15名的好成绩，三阶同样以6.24秒打破原纪录7.43秒。

赛场上的新尝试与稳步进取同样值得铭记。Choi Iat Hei (蔡溢希)参加了2个项目，迎来个人在二阶魔方的首次尝试并拿下3.49秒，三阶魔方以15.71秒刷新原成绩21.64秒，提升达27.4%。Chiu Man Lok (趙文濼)出战2个项目，完成了二阶魔方的首次亮相取得4.18秒，三阶成绩以22.85秒大幅刷新原有的35.85秒。Haoxuan Liu (刘浩轩)参与3个项目，首次挑战金字塔项目录得23.04秒，并在二阶和三阶分别跑出3.54秒与12.36秒的个人新纪录。

从传统三阶到各类异形赛项，整场WCA比赛在紧凑的节奏中平稳运行。在各代表队方面，中国选手共夺得14个领奖台席位，中国香港和美国选手各获得2个领奖台席位。各项成绩的刷新见证了选手们在本赛季中的扎实积累。
