Zhengzhou Summer II 2025

Inside the Super 8 Hotel at the Zhengzhou Railway Station Ticket Office, an intense quiet defined the playing area as competitors took their seats with blindfolds in hand. Across the tables, athletes inspected scrambled puzzles in absolute silence before sliding fabric over their eyes to solve completely from memory. The single-day WCA competition brought together 37 competitors in Zhengzhou, Henan, China on August 23, 2025, dedicating the entire schedule to four demanding blindfolded events. It stood out on the calendar as a pure test of recall and execution.

The morning schedule opened with the standard blindfolded event, setting the tone for the entire cubing competition. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, Yifan Wang (王逸帆) delivered an exceptional performance to lead the 37-person field. Capturing victory with a winning average of 18.63 seconds, Wang also logged the fastest single solve of the discipline at 16.91 seconds. The contest for the remaining podium positions was equally fierce, with Jianing Luo (罗佳宁) taking second place with a single of 21.14 seconds and Zicong Liu (刘子聪) securing third on a 21.56 single.

As the day advanced into multi-cube solving, the mental demands escalated significantly. The 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event required solvers to memorize dozens of Rubik's Cube layouts simultaneously within strict time constraints. Jianing Luo (罗佳宁) claimed the top spot among 24 competitors by successfully solving 28 out of 31 cubes in 55:50. Ziyi Xu (徐梓翼) followed in second place with a total of 24 out of 30 cubes in exactly 1:00:00, while Liang Chen (陈樑) secured third place with 21 out of 27 cubes completed in 58:24.

Midday brought the larger puzzles into rotation as the schedule transitioned to 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Navigating the additional internal pieces and complex parity states without visual feedback tested even the most seasoned competitors. Sora Wenjie Xu (徐文杰) topped the 23-person bracket with a winning single time of 2:31.51. Yonghao Xu (徐永浩) earned second place with a time of 2:38.21, and Zicong Liu (刘子聪) collected another podium finish of the day by placing third in 2:49.93.

The late afternoon schedule concluded the main bracket with the immense challenge of 5x5x5 Blindfolded. Solving a five-layered puzzle blindfolded requires managing hundreds of individual piece movements entirely in memory. Hui Cai (蔡辉) conquered the 18-competitor field to win with a single of 5:17.03. Sora Wenjie Xu (徐文杰) returned to the podium to claim second place in 5:39.65, while Ziyi Xu (徐梓翼) earned third with a time of 6:37.13.

Beyond the podium battles, Zhengzhou Summer II 2025 produced remarkable breakthroughs across the roster. Xiaoyu Yu (于筱玙) posted a massive improvement in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, clocking a personal best of 2:36.00 to finish 43.1 percent faster than their previous mark of 4:34.34 and placing 24th. Zeyuan Liu (刘泽源) competed across 3 events and achieved a personal best of 1:49.37 in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, dropping 34.4 percent from 2:46.60 while securing a best finish of 14th in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind. Mengxin Liu (刘梦心) lowered their blindfolded best by 18.4 percent to 37.09 seconds for a 10th-place finish.

First-time milestones highlighted the depth of effort across the arena. Haozhe Yan (阎浩喆) registered their first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Blindfolded, recording an official time of 2:25.68 to place 22nd. Lixing Ge (葛立星) also completed their first ever attempt in the same event, logging a time of 3:21.78 to finish 25th. Yifan Cheng (程依凡) took on 4 events and completed a first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Blindfolded in 9:24.13 to finish 5th. Zejia Guo (郭泽嘉) and Xuanzheng Lin (林轩正) each entered 2 events, both earning a weekend-best 14th-place result in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind.

The gathering was a clinic in blindfolded speedcubing, demonstrating the high technical baseline across all four featured disciplines. China swept all 12 available podium positions across the tournament. For fans checking the blindfolded 3x3 results and tracking larger puzzle achievements, the day offered a comprehensive display of focus. As the final stops of the 2025 calendar approach, the athletes from Zhengzhou Summer II 2025 established a high benchmark for blindfolded speed cubing excellence.
