Big Cubes Test Stamina and Speed at Zagreb Cubing Series II. 2026English

The tables at Business Club 5 filled quickly as timers clicked on and off throughout a demanding single-day schedule. Puzzles clicked in steady rhythm, the low whir of plastic turning under precise finger movements echoing across the room. Solve mats stayed occupied from the morning onward as participants reset layers, checked tensioning, and settled into their inspection routines. A focused field gathered in Zagreb, Croatia on June 6, 2026, prepared to push through multiple rounds across a slate of complex disciplines.

Big cubes place a unique tax on stamina and forethought. Unlike standard twisty puzzles, navigating the layered centers and extended edge pairings of the 5x5x5 Cube and 6x6x6 Cube demands sustained concentration through hundreds of turns per attempt. Solvers must manage physical hand fatigue alongside constant visual tracking across shifting color grids. At Zagreb Cubing Series II. 2026, the endurance events formed the competitive core of the meeting, testing the precision of every competitor who stepped up to the timing stations.

Slovenia solver Oskar Vidiček turned in an exceptional performance across the big cube categories. In the 6x6x6 Cube, Vidiček captured top honours with a winning average of 1:32.96, highlighted by a best single of 1:27.50 across the two rounds. His consistency also produced a new national record average of 1:30.65 for Slovenia. David Vujasić of Croatia took the second spot on the podium with a 1:51.70 average, while Marcel Niedl of Austria claimed third position recording a 2:13.46 mark.

The 5x5x5 Cube followed a similar trajectory at the sharp end of the standings. Oskar Vidiček secured his second title of the weekend by registering a 54.25 winning average and putting down a best single of 49.98. David Vujasić mounted a formidable challenge for Croatia, setting a national record single of 51.23 during the event and finishing second overall with a 59.14 average. Marcel Niedl completed the top three for Austria with a 1:08.53 average, matching the top three trio from the six-layer bracket.

Beyond the top steps, individual breakthroughs marked the progression of the tournament across every stage. Petar Toni Lučev took on three events, logging a first ever attempt at Square-1 with a time of 1:19.37 and dropping his 5x5x5 Cube personal best down to 3:18.28, which was 13.9 percent faster than his previous standard of 3:50.24. Lara Pernar delivered major gains across two events, trimming her Megaminx personal best to 1:51.87 to finish 21.9 percent faster than her prior 2:23.31, while also improving her Clock personal best to 14.31, an improvement of 4.8 percent. Vigo Pernar competed in four events and shaved 10.3 percent off his Megaminx personal best, bringing his mark down from 1:37.54 to 1:27.49.

The momentum continued as Marin Grgić tackled four events, setting a 5x5x5 Cube personal best of 2:05.02 to surpass his prior 2:11.45 by 4.9 percent alongside a Megaminx personal best of 2:27.94. Danijel Bajsić took on a full slate of five events, earning a 6th-place finish in the 6x6x6 Cube with a personal best of 2:29.12 that improved on his previous 2:34.87 by 3.7 percent, while also establishing a Megaminx personal best of 1:13.18. Karlo Tretinjak rounded out the wave of improvements across four events by securing a 5x5x5 Cube personal best of 1:38.13.

The dodecahedral Megaminx brought another endurance challenge to the venue, where Oskar Vidiček earned his third victory of the day with a 38.21 average and a 36.86 best single. Marko Obradović of Slovenia secured second place with a 49.15 average, while Croatia competitor David Vujasić stepped onto his third podium of the gathering with a third-place average of 51.78. Across the 21 participants in the event, the multi-faceted puzzles required sustained turning efficiency through both rounds.

In the specialty events, Marcel Niedl claimed first place in Square-1, finishing with an 11.98 average and a best single of 10.38 to secure a victory for Austria. Vedran Štefulj of Croatia followed in second place with a 12.96 average, while Oskar Vidiček placed third with a 15.12 mark. Meanwhile, Clock saw Gregor Mikic of Slovenia top the table with a 5.86 winning average and a single of 3.73. Jakov Jakšić took second place for Croatia at 6.37, and Filip Barbirič Frank earned third for Slovenia with a 6.86 average.

Across ten rounds of official speedcubing, the gathering highlighted the broad scope of modern speed cubing competition. A total of 22 competitors engaged across five distinct events, generating strong podium representations where Slovenia collected seven top-three places, Croatia secured five, and Austria earned three. While fans often look for traditional Rubik's Cube matchups or standard 3x3 results, the focus in Zagreb remained squarely on the stamina and mechanical mastery needed for complex big cubes and unconventional puzzles.

As the final timers were cleared from the tables, the single-day WCA competition concluded with new records and notable personal milestones across the board. The efficient ten-round schedule at Zagreb Cubing Series II. 2026 provided a demanding test of physical concentration and layered problem-solving, leaving the regional circuit with fresh benchmarks to chase as the next season of competitive play approaches.

Nakon uspješno zaključenog vikenda, brzinsko slaganje slagalica u regiji nastavlja rasti i privlačiti sve veći broj spremnih natjecatelja u novoj sezoni.
