Wuhan Crimson Autumn 2026

Yifan Wang delivered the standout performance of the weekend at the Holiday Inn Wuhan Riverside, conquering the unforgiving three-solve format of 3x3x3 Blindfolded to claim an Asian record average of 15.80 seconds alongside a winning single of 15.73. Unlike standard rounds that allow competitors to discard their worst effort, mean-of-three events offer no safety net. Every single solve counts toward the final average, turning even a momentary lapse in memory or execution into an instant disaster. Wang navigated all three attempts without a single mistake, anchoring the score sheet at the top of the podium.

The one-day WCA competition took place on September 13, 2026, bringing competitors across six different disciplines together in Wuhan, Hubei, China. The pressure of strict averages defined the blindfolded contest, where Jianing Luo secured second place with a time of 20.56 seconds and Yi Qu took third in 52.81 seconds. In a discipline where memorisation must be paired with flawless fingertricks while deprived of sight, putting together three clean attempts remains one of the sharpest challenges in modern speedcubing.

The battle for the marquee Rubik's Cube crown proved just as tight in the standard solving categories. Xuanyi Geng emerged victorious in the classic puzzle, taking the 3x3x3 Cube title with a winning single mark of 3.90 seconds. Yiheng Wang pushed the pace throughout the round, finishing right behind in second place with a 3.94, while Yunzhi Lian locked down the third spot on the podium with a 4.52. The razor-thin margin separating the top two solvers highlighted the intense standard of the 3x3 results at the front of the pack.

Yiheng Wang also left a heavy imprint across multiple other events at Wuhan Crimson Autumn 2026. Wang captured top honours in the 2x2x2 Cube with a rapid 1.01-second single, edging out Jiazhou Li who posted 1.38 and Yutong Wang who took third with 1.60. Wang returned to the podium in 3x3x3 One-Handed, securing second place in 11.42 seconds behind champion Zhen Chen, who won the event with a single of 8.58 seconds. Jiazhou Li claimed third place in one-handed solving with an 11.99.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors produced notable individual milestones on the competition floor. Shuzhi Chen delivered massive leaps across three entered disciplines, shaving 71.1% off a 2x2x2 Cube personal best to hit 5.62 seconds down from 19.42, dropping their Pyraminx best by 41.8% to 7.84 seconds from 13.48, and improving by 30.2% on the 3x3x3 Cube down to 15.24 seconds from 21.84. Yuhe Lin also notched a major improvement in the 2x2x2 Cube, logging a personal best of 3.72 seconds to mark a 53% drop from an earlier 7.92. Jiaye Liu entered two events, recording a first ever attempt at the 3x3x3 Cube of 13.68 seconds while cutting 40.5% off their 2x2x2 Cube personal best down to 3.10 from 5.21.

Other solvers expanded their repertoires by logging official marks in fresh events throughout the speed cubing schedule. Qiyuan Luo tackled four events, producing a first ever attempt at the 2x2x2 Cube in 2.90 seconds and cutting 35.7% from a Skewb personal best down to 6.45 from 10.03. Yuteng Zhang posted a pair of debut official times, logging a first ever attempt at the 2x2x2 Cube in 5.07 seconds and a first ever attempt at the 3x3x3 Cube in 18.33. Wei Wei also branched out with a first ever attempt at Skewb in 8.19 seconds alongside a first ever attempt at Pyraminx in 6.68. Chenxin Jiang posted a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 33.41 seconds and improved their 3x3x3 Cube mark by 21.4% to 7.91 from 10.07, while Jiaheng He logged a first ever attempt at one-handed solving in 23.61 seconds and bettered their 3x3x3 Cube best by 20.8% to 13.75 from 17.37.

The side events generated equally sharp contests in the afternoon sessions. Lingkun Jiang secured first place in the Pyraminx with an impressive winning mark of 1.36 seconds, holding off Zizhen Li who finished second in 2.77 seconds and Yichen Jiang who took third in 3.51. In the Skewb final, Yingjian Gong claimed the title with a swift 2.65-second single, while Zizhen Li earned a second silver medal of the day with a 2.90 and Qi Zhou rounded out the top three with a time of 3.92 seconds.

With all six disciplines concluded, competitors from China swept all 18 podium positions across the tournament. Wuhan Crimson Autumn 2026 demonstrated the depth of talent in the region, providing both record-breaking milestones at the very top and significant personal milestones for solvers across the roster. As another competitive chapter closes in Wuhan, the community looks forward to seeing how these newly set benchmarks and expanding repertoires will carry forward into the next season of tournament play.
