Big Cubes and Side Events Steal the Show at VIT Cube Open 2024English
Twenty-eight competitors sat down for the grueling 6x6x6 Cube clash at the Homi bhabha Gallery inside the Silver Jubilee Tower at VIT, highlighting a schedule that gave niche disciplines equal footing with the classic puzzles. Hosted in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India on April 21, 2024, the one-day gathering drew 105 competitors across eight rounds of head-to-head action. While the traditional 3x3x3 Cube drew the largest crowd, the big cubes and specialized formats produced some of the most commanding moments of the day.
The 6x6x6 Cube event demanded immense stamina across its single-round final, where India's Sujai Shakthivel secured top honors with a winning average of 2:02.65 and a best single of 1:58.11. Shakthivel established a clear lead over Dhruv Thirumalairajan, who claimed the runner-up spot with an average of 2:07.26. Imruthun Meenakshisundaram completed the all-Indian podium in third place with a 2:31.65 mark, proving that mastery over the larger hardware remains one of the most demanding tests in speedcubing.
Another specialized discipline that took center stage was 3x3x3 One-Handed, featuring a deep field of 63 entrants. Saseeth Srilok Majeti produced a fluid sequence of solves to capture victory with a 12.28 average and a best single solve of 10.96 seconds. Sundararajan followed closely in second place with a 13.68 average, while Mohith B rounded out the podium positions with a steady 15.92 average in an impressive showcase of single-arm fingertricks and efficiency.

Viswath Kumaraa Kesavaraj took the gold with a crisp 3.00 average, backed by a tournament-best single of 2.34 seconds. Sai Mrudhun earned the second position with an average of 3.57, and Rajha Sirokshan secured third place with an average of 4.40 to conclude a fast-paced final.
