Arthur Vinicios Medeiros Alves Sweeps Seven Events at VII Recife Open 2026English

The tables at CTG - Centro de Tecnologia e Geociências - UFPE were humming with activity as forty-two solvers gathered for two full days of intense speedcubing. Over January 17 and January 18, 2026, the venue in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, served as the backdrop for fourteen rounds across nine distinct disciplines. Hand warmers, stackmats, and timers framed every station as competitors prepared to test their practice against the clock in front of judges and peers alike.

From the opening rounds to the final solves, Arthur Vinicios Medeiros Alves established total command over the weekend program. His performance across the board proved historic at VII Recife Open 2026, where he collected top honors in seven of the nine categories staged. Whether tackling large twisty puzzles, fast mechanical variants, or the standard Rubik's Cube, Alves set the competitive standard in nearly every final he entered throughout the schedule.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew a field of forty entrants across three rounds, culminating in a decisive showing by Alves. His winning average of 7.48 seconds in the final, complemented by a tournament-best single of 6.19 seconds, secured the top step. Celso Reis Vasconcelos Landim earned second place with an average of 9.02 seconds, while Marcela Luna de Albuquerque rounded out the podium at 9.92 seconds to complete the 3x3 results.

Alves mirrored that dominance in the shorter formats, claiming the 2x2x2 Cube title with an average of 2.64 seconds after posting a single of 1.52 earlier in the event. Albuquerque took runner-up at 3.50 seconds, with Levy Fernandes Pereira taking third in 3.90 seconds. Moving to the Skewb, Alves maintained his winning form with a 4.54 average, edging out João Vinícius Santos at 4.97 seconds and Albuquerque at 6.24 seconds.

The larger puzzles told the exact same story across both days of the cubing competition. In 4x4x4 Cube, Alves delivered an average of 30.82 seconds to finish well ahead of Santos at 44.64 seconds and Albuquerque at 47.77 seconds. In 5x5x5 Cube, Alves triumphed with a mark of 1:05.11, while Santos placed second at 1:10.26 and Igor Kauã Gomes da Silva finished third at 1:26.32. Alves closed his sweeping run by claiming the Megaminx title in 49.00 seconds and Square-1 in 11.37 seconds.

Beyond the title chase, significant strides emerged across the preliminary rounds and lower tables.
