Ciarán Beahan Dominates On Irish Soil at Turnin' Offaly Fast 2024English

Ciarán Beahan put on a commanding display across multiple categories to secure the premier 3x3x3 Cube title with a 6.68 average at Turnin' Offaly Fast 2024. Staged over March 16 and March 17 at the Tullamore Court Hotel in Tullamore, Offaly, Ireland, the event saw local talent shine across 13 distinct disciplines. A bustling venue full of enthusiastic domestic supporters rallied behind Beahan as he posted a single of 6.50 during the main event before closing out the final against CJ Furey and Enda Loftus to establish his dominance early in the weekend program.

The 2024 edition of the gathering brought 98 competitors together for 21 intense rounds of speedcubing. As the official 3x3 results came in, Beahan's triumph in the traditional Rubik's Cube was merely the cornerstone of an expansive weekend haul. He added gold medals in the 4x4x4 Cube with a 25.51 average, 3x3x3 One-Handed with 13.35, the 5x5x5 Cube in 43.47, the 6x6x6 Cube in 1:20.58, and the 7x7x7 Cube with a 2:00.98 mark, demonstrating complete authority across the larger formats on home territory.

The 2x2x2 Cube showdown delivered razor-thin margins and some of the fiercest action of Turnin' Offaly Fast 2024. Kalin Doherty claimed victory by averaging 1.86, narrowly edging out Enda Loftus who finished right behind with a 1.87 average, while Lucas Patrick Dowling secured third place on a 2.32 mark. Doherty also recorded a single of 1.12 during the bracket. Loftus made frequent trips to the podium across the two days, winning the Pyraminx with a 2.39 average and taking second place in the Skewb event.

Specialist puzzles brought distinct challenges to the floor as athletes managed technical precision under strict time constraints. In the Skewb event, Ronan Finke posted an impressive 2.95 winning average to finish ahead of Loftus and Rían Burke. Jack Corr secured the Clock title by averaging 3.78, besting India's Prabhav Rajaram Nayak. Nayak found redemption later in the schedule, earning the Megaminx victory with a 38.01 average, while Adam Bermingham took the Square-1 crown with an average of 11.14.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, numerous competitors delivered breakthrough performances across new disciplines. Charlie Egan entered 8 events, cutting their Skewb personal best down to 13.55, which was 59.1 percent faster than their previous mark, while completing their first ever attempt at Clock in 23.39 and first 3x3x3 One-Handed attempt in 1:16.61. Peter Taylor tackled 9 events and logged a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 15.44, improving by 51.8 percent, alongside a first 4x4x4 Cube attempt of 1:48.89. Senan O'Mahony dropped their Skewb mark to 9.58, a 46.5 percent improvement, and notched a 30th-place Clock finish.

That drive to take on new formats resonated throughout the roster at this cubing competition. Daniel Buckley cut 37.8 percent off their Skewb best to record 8.91 and finished 25th in Clock with a first attempt of 13.12. Ethan McCrea improved their 3x3x3 Cube best by 32.6 percent to 36.29 and made their first Pyraminx solve in 18.05. Samuel Niezgoda advanced their 2x2x2 Cube personal best to 6.27, a 27 percent jump, and debuted in Pyraminx. Zach Conroy reduced their Pyraminx record to 6.93, a 21.4 percent gain, while Iarfhlaith Cunningham posted a 14.12 Clock personal best and achieved a 20th-place finish in 2x2x2 Cube.

Solving without visual input remains one of the ultimate tests at any WCA competition, requiring flawless memorisation before physical execution begins. Simon Kelly captured the 3x3x3 Blindfolded crown at Turnin' Offaly Fast 2024 with a best single solve of 42.54 seconds, leading Enda Loftus and Mongolia's Namuun Natsagdorj. The performance highlighted the diverse skill sets showcased throughout the competition, where Ireland collected 34 total podium placements while international contenders from India, Romania, and Mongolia also made their marks on the standings.

As the schedule concluded, Turnin' Offaly Fast 2024 underlined the continuing growth and depth of speed cubing in Ireland. From seasoned champions sweeping the big cube events to emerging solvers expanding into unfamiliar categories, the Tullamore gathering provided an exceptional platform for community progress. The weekend demonstrated how local dedication and competitive energy can combine to produce memorable results on the national stage.
