Natthaphat Mahtani Dominates Deep Fields Across Busy Weekend in BangkokEnglish

Natthaphat Mahtani set the standard at Fortune Town by capturing the 3x3x3 Cube title with a blistering 6.93 winning average. The performance stood out amid a weekend of intense pressure, as 73 competitors converged on Bangkok, Thailand, to test their speed across six distinct disciplines. Across 16 rounds of action on November 8 and 9, the depth of the field meant that every advancement required absolute precision from the opening turn.

Navigating the flagship Rubik's Cube bracket was a demanding task, with 69 competitors battling through three rounds to secure a place in the final. Mahtani posted a best single of 5.98 on the way to gold, staying ahead of a fiercely competitive field. Parist Pariyakanok secured second place with a 7.28 average after throwing down an impressive 5.88 single, while Enoch Tangprasittipol claimed third on the podium with a 7.51 mark.

The 3x3 results demonstrated just how narrow the margins were throughout the weekend. The depth of competition was mirrored in the side events, where versatile solvers tackled multiple formats. Tangprasittipol produced a commanding victory in Megaminx, taking first place with a 37.06 average ahead of Mahtani at 40.55 and Theptharadol Piam-a-kho at 41.61 across three contested rounds. The battle highlighted the stamina required across the twelve-sided puzzle.

Thailand Cool Down 2025 offered no easy routes to victory, especially in the technical events. Mahtani returned to the top of the podium in Square-1, taking the title with a 9.54 average and a best single of 7.55. Anukun Supcharoenkun pushed the pace to finish second with 10.23, while Tangprasittipol rounded out the top three at 10.86, showing exceptional consistency across different puzzle types.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors produced remarkable breakthroughs that highlighted the strength of the gathering. Crisawee Thangrakpong entered three events, logging a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with 1:19.39 while slicing 59.4 percent off a previous best in Pyraminx to record 8.30 and improving their 3x3x3 Cube time by 32.5 percent down to 27.93. Kittamuk Rueangsri took on three events, registering a first ever attempt at Megaminx with 1:48.20 and a debut Pyraminx solve of 9.01, alongside a 3x3x3 Cube best of 14.53. Pakkapon Janmaha competed across four events, logging a first Pyraminx attempt of 13.79, improving their One-Handed time by 11.4 percent to 30.70, and hitting 13.97 on the standard cube.

The personal milestones continued throughout the weekend across every tier of the field. Mahasamut Lertapirak made a first attempt at Pyraminx with 16.63 and lowered their 3x3x3 Cube mark by 15 percent to 42.89. Papon Itthimathin took on three disciplines, recording a first ever attempt at Square-1 with 37.94, dropping their Pyraminx mark by 8.4 percent to 7.81, and finishing with a 14.06 in the 3x3x3 Cube. Surasan Buabud took on five events and secured an 11th-place finish in 3x3x3 One-Handed, achieving a personal best of 15.97 in the discipline while dropping their Megaminx mark by 36 percent to 1:09.54. Jirapat Thepkan improved their Pyraminx best by 35.8 percent to 4.74 and hit 12.95 in the main event, while Pema Wangchuk lowered their Pyraminx mark by 28 percent to 8.40, dropped their One-Handed time by 23.8 percent to 30.62, and cut their 3x3x3 Cube time by 14 percent to 11.82.

Single-handed solving proved equally rigorous, as Parist Pariyakanok captured the 3x3x3 One-Handed crown with a 10.04 winning average and an 8.33 single. Mahtani earned second place with an 11.68 average, and Tangprasittipol added another podium finish with 12.73. The speed cubing mastery on display required immense finger independence across both rounds of the event.

The triangular challenge of Pyraminx drew 51 competitors across three rounds, where Patomkal Treemek secured gold with an explosive 2.71 average and a 1.99 single. Pariyakanok followed closely behind with 2.95 for second place, edging out Wasu Modjang at 3.01 in a razor-thin final. The fast-paced format left zero room for hesitation from any of the finalists.

In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, Anawin Chaichana emerged victorious with a winning single of 44.03. Competitors faced the intense demands of memorisation and execution without sight, where Korakot Inkaew took second place with 56.45 and Yindee Wattanawong claimed third with 2:01.04. Every successful solve required tremendous mental discipline under the tournament lights.

All 18 podium positions across the tournament went to competitors representing the host nation, underscoring the formidable local talent at Thailand Cool Down 2025. As another high-stakes cubing competition in 2025 concluded at Fortune Town, the deep brackets and hard-fought finals proved that this WCA competition tested the limits of every solver who stepped up to the table.
