Arisandra Soo and Jode Brewster Claim Championship Honours in HobartEnglish

A winning average of 7.93 seconds decided the premier event on April 26, 2025, bringing the 3x3x3 Cube contest to a dramatic finish at Howrah Primary School. The single-day tournament brought together 48 competitors across seven distinct disciplines and 11 rounds of action. With forty-six contenders pursuing the flagship title in classic Rubik's Cube solving, Arisandra Soo held off a hard-charging field to seize first place in the finals, backed by a best single solve of 7.62 seconds. Jode Brewster took second place on the podium with an 8.54 average, while Ethan Tenaglia rounded out the top three with a mark of 9.62.

The 3x3 results formed only a portion of the broader success story for Jode Brewster at the TAS State Championship 2025. Brewster dominated across multiple formats throughout the day in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, capturing first place in three separate events. In the 2x2x2 Cube final, Brewster averaged a blistering 1.24 seconds, punctuated by a single solve of 0.88 seconds, to secure the title ahead of Aathi Vijayalayan and Veer Liu Dogra. Brewster continued that momentum in the 4x4x4 Cube, posting a winning average of 27.70 seconds, and added another first-place finish in Skewb with a 4.87 average.

The broader podium races highlighted intense speedcubing clashes across all disciplines. In Pyraminx, Ari Xiang Soo topped a field of 35 solvers by logging a 2.95 average to take the win, finishing ahead of Brewster with 3.71 and Dogra with 4.80. The 4x4x4 Cube podium featured international flair as Trần Đăng Quang of Vietnam secured second place with a 36.28 average, standing alongside Brewster and third-place finisher Arisandra Soo. Over on the Skewb tables, Leeah Gard-Spaulding earned second position with a 5.76 average, while Dogra secured another third-place finish.

Memory and composure were tested during the blindfolded events, where Anthony Rochester delivered a commanding double victory. Rochester won the 3x3x3 Blindfolded division with a best single solve of 44.82 seconds, leaving Brewster in second at 1:34.38 and Dogra in third at 2:57.50. Rochester then demonstrated exceptional discipline in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, securing 21 solved cubes out of 23 attempts within a time limit of 53:26. Brewster followed in second place with a result of 3 out of 6 in 31:51, concluding a rigorous schedule of blind events.

Solvers in the 2x2x2 Cube delivered numerous fast single times, including Gard-Spaulding registering a 2.13 and Dogra producing a 2.60 during the rounds. The rapid succession of preliminary rounds and finals across all seven events kept tables filled with steady action from morning to evening.
