Swedish Championship 2024 Delivers Breakthrough Bests in SalaEnglish

A total of 179 competitors converged on Sala Idrottshall for Swedish Championship 2024 from May 10 to May 12, staging 34 rounds of high-stakes puzzle solving across 16 official disciplines. Over three packed days of speedcubing action in Sala, Sweden, the national gathering put both veteran consistency and rising potential under the spotlight. Beyond the championship trophies, the weekend functioned as an accelerator for personal bests, with competitors continuously shaving seconds off their previous marks across standard events and specialized variants alike.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube contest gathered a massive field of 168 participants across four distinct stages. The final 3x3 results came down to mere hundredths of a second in an extraordinary duel at the top. Alve Carlqvist captured the title with a winning average of 7.77 seconds alongside a single of 6.29, narrowly edging runner-up Dante Wallin Arvidsson, who completed the round with a 7.78 average. Emanuel Schelin secured the third podium position with a 7.85 mark, illustrating the razor-thin margins that defined the Rubik's Cube championship round in 2024.

Multiple titles across the schedule rewarded versatility and sheer work rate on the competition floor. William Jensen delivered a dominant performance over the weekend, claiming first place in four separate categories. Jensen secured victories in the 4x4x4 Cube with a 29.89 average, the 5x5x5 Cube with a 52.73 average, Megaminx with a 37.74 average, and Pyraminx with a 2.63 mark. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Jensen held off Jack Larsson Backsell and Govend Avgerinos Djangoi, who each finished with matching 30.88 averages. The same trio formed the 5x5x5 Cube podium, where Backsell registered 54.29 for second and Djangoi posted 54.69 for third.

Short-format events maintained an unrelenting pace throughout this WCA competition. In the 2x2x2 Cube final, Pep Edén earned the title with a 1.50 average and a 1.31 single, finishing ahead of Jakob Gunnarsson at 1.74 and Alve Carlqvist at 1.81.
