Martin Vædele Egdal Sweeps Seven Titles at SveKub Super League I: Falkenberg 2023English
A commanding performance across ten events defined the weekend at Falkhallen, where Denmark veteran Martin Vædele Egdal captured victory in seven separate disciplines. The standout triumph came in the main event as Egdal posted a decisive 6.45-second winning average in the final round of the classic 3x3x3 Cube. His sharpest single turn produced a 5.93-second effort, establishing a benchmark that separated him from a determined field of 45 competitors across three rounds of play. The display set the tone for SveKub Super League I: Falkenberg 2023, showcasing seasoned competitive form on the tournament floor.
The two-day speedcubing gathering took place on January 28 and January 29 in Falkenberg, Sweden. Operating under World Cube Association standards, the 2023 fixture featured 25 rounds across 10 official events. It offered an early-season test for established talent and rising solvers alike. Beyond the classic Rubik's Cube, the schedule challenged competitors across various big cubes, edge-turning mechanisms, and side events, drawing a competitive assembly to Falkhallen for an intense slate of matchups.
In the headline 3x3 results, Egdal secured the top step of the podium ahead of Sweden's Elvin Thorsen, who posted a runner-up average of 7.55 seconds. Daniel Wallin took third place for Sweden with a 7.92 average. Thorsen quickly answered back in Pyraminx, claiming the gold medal with a 2.27 winning average and a 1.56 best single over three rounds, edging out Egdal's 2.79 and Daniel Vædele Egdal's 3.49. The podium places reflected an ongoing exchange at the top between Danish and Swedish entrants.
Daniel Vædele Egdal asserted control in the Skewb final, winning the event with a 3.03 average and a best single of 2.70 across three rounds. Martin Vædele Egdal secured silver with a 3.50 average, while Daniel Wallin claimed bronze at 3.84. In Square-1, Wallin earned top honors in a tightly contested final round, recording an 11.53 winning average to narrowly edge Martin Vædele Egdal's 11.59 and Jakob Gunnarsson's 11.62. Across the smaller formats, Martin Vædele Egdal edged William Jensen in 2x2x2 Cube with a 1.90 average against Jensen's 1.92, while Thorsen earned bronze with 2.01.
The big cubes provided further proof of veteran execution. Stabilitet gav guldregn i FalkhallenSvenska
Flera deltagare gjorde sina allra första officiella starter under denna cubing competition. Max Raihle genomförde sitt första försök någonsin i Pyraminx på tiden 33.05. Afshin Nur Ayad gjorde sin debut på en WCA-tävling med 5 grenar, där han bland annat noterade 24.93 på 3x3x3, 12.27 på Skewb och 2:00.88 på 4x4x4. Syskonen Harry Knopf och Hilma Knopf gjorde båda tävlingsdebut; Harry klockades för 6.24 på 2x2x2, 13.40 på Pyraminx och 55.86 på 3x3x3, medan Hilma noterade 14.46 på 2x2x2, 29.87 på Skewb och 58.85 på 3x3x3.
