Daniel Wallin Sweeps Four Events at Stockholmsligan 4: Ice Hockey - 2023English

Inside Arena Satelliten in Sollentuna, Sweden, the hum of turning layers and resetting timers set the stage for an intense single-day showdown. A field of 24 competitors assembled on November 8, 2023, ready to contest five distinct events across five single rounds of play. The compact schedule demanded absolute readiness from the opening turn, with participants lining the competition tables eager to test their practice against the clock. This focused cubing competition gathered talent from across the region to produce a sharp day of speedcubing excellence in northern Stockholm.

The morning schedule opened with the larger NxN puzzles, where the marathon demand of the 7x7x7 Cube immediately set the competitive benchmark. Daniel Wallin set the standard across the board, navigating the 8-player field to claim first place with a winning average of 3:20.15 and a standout best single solve of 3:11.65. Björn Arvidsson secured second place with an average of 4:22.61, while Dante Tellechea Hultmark joined them on the podium in third place with a 5:51.08 average. The complex big cube test rewarded disciplined pace management and precise layer control.

As the schedule progressed toward the mid-session events, the action shifted to the highly technical Square-1 division. Wallin returned to the table and delivered another commanding victory, posting a winning average of 15.08 seconds alongside a swift best single solve of 8.86 seconds. Axel Folke Sjöberg took second place with an average of 27.26 seconds, edging out Björn Arvidsson who took third in 27.43 seconds. The shape-shifting puzzle provided a striking visual contrast to the cubic events and underscored the versatility required across different puzzle mechanics.

The 2x2x2 Cube event followed, presenting a high-pressure sprint for 19 competitors. Wallin captured his third title of the day with a sub-three winning average of 2.99 seconds, propelled by a blistering 1.82 single solve. Viktor Nyman Müller posted a strong 3.59 average to take second place, highlighted by a 2.41 single, while Helmer Forsgren completed the top three with an average of 3.85 seconds and a single of 3.30. Close behind, Axel Folke Sjöberg averaged 4.23 and Dante Tellechea Hultmark recorded a 4.34 average in the tight pocket cube battle.

Beyond the top steps of the podium, several competitors delivered remarkable personal milestones that highlighted the depth of the tournament. Zakaria Johansson took on two events and generated major progress, securing a 13th-place finish in the 2x2x2 Cube with a personal best of 2.98 seconds, which was 69.9 percent faster than their previous mark, alongside a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 17.68 seconds. Frej Wanér tackled three events, registering a first ever attempt at 2x2x2 Cube with a 9.44, a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with a 1:28.67, and a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 30.92 seconds. Vaibhav Krishna Abothula logged a first attempt at one-handed solving with a 1:19.38 while setting a 2x2x2 Cube personal best of 4.39 seconds, 33.3 percent faster than before. Vanessa Tyszkiewicz took on all five events, finishing 4th in 7x7x7 Cube with a personal best of 7:21.12 and logging a one-handed best of 29.92 seconds. Ludvig Söderström also contested all five disciplines, finishing 6th in Square-1, establishing a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 11.22 seconds, and recording a one-handed best of 26.58 seconds.
