SSN Cube Open 2025

Thirteen separate events packed the schedule across two full days of intense speedcubing action in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, India. The Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering hosted 88 competitors from February 8 to February 9, 2025, yielding 16 hard-fought rounds. While traditional puzzles drew large fields, the niche categories offered some of the weekend most gripping storylines. Specialists in mechanical complexity and non-standard formats stepped up to show their expertise, demonstrating mastery over puzzles that demand distinctly different skillsets from the classic Rubik's Cube.

Square-1 brought sharp technical execution as Nishanth Meganathan secured the gold medal with a winning average of 12.20 seconds, highlighted by a blistering best single of 8.61 seconds. Johan Peter earned the silver medal with a 13.29 average, while Mithilesh Gopalakrishnan rounded out the podium in third place at 17.22 seconds. Meganathan versatility was on display throughout the weekend as he consistently appeared in the final standings of multiple demanding disciplines, challenging top contenders on both twisty puzzles and large cubes.

The 12-sided Megaminx and the massive 7x7x7 Cube saw Sujai Shakthivel dominate the field with remarkable endurance and consistency. Shakthivel conquered the Megaminx with a 59.80-second winning average and a single of 55.67 seconds to take the title. Returning to the stage for the seven-layered monster, Shakthivel captured another victory with a 3:00.76 average and a top single of 2:47.82. Meganathan pushed hard in the 7x7x7 event to take second place with a 3:34.32 average, while Imruthun Meenakshisundaram took third place averaging 4:03.12.

Clock and Skewb provided explosive turn-speed battles where split seconds determined the rankings. Ankit A claimed victory in the Clock event with a 7.45 winning average and a fast 5.18 single, holding off Sahas Darsh Miglani who took second at 8.77 seconds and Ritheeshwar who finished third at 9.65 seconds. Miglani rebounded in the Skewb event, taking top honors with a 4.21 average and a 3.59 single, besting Siddharth Sriram who averaged 5.88 seconds and R S Sreevathsan who finished on the podium at 6.27 seconds.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs that the final scorecards rarely fully capture. Mayuran AK posted an extraordinary 58.3 percent improvement on the 2x2x2 Cube with a 9.56 personal best, alongside a 42.99 mark in the main event. Avyukthan Balamurugan tackled five separate disciplines, securing fifth place in 2x2x2 with a 3.08 single that was 46.3 percent faster than before, a 10.83 single on the 3x3x3 Cube that improved by 47.1 percent, and a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed at 28.02 seconds. Mrithylesh Dhanraj logged a first ever attempt at 2x2x2 Cube with a 4.88 single while dropping their Pyraminx mark by 31.9 percent to 6.06 and their 3x3x3 time by 30.2 percent to 13.36.

The progress continued across the tournament floor as Rithishvar Ramesh took on a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed with a 40.75 single and set personal bests of 3.31 on 2x2x2 and 14.79 on 3x3x3. Faiyaz Ahamed Fazil took on five events, registering a first ever attempt at 6x6x6 Cube in 3:47.19, a first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Cube in 1:21.54, a personal best 35.39 in 4x4x4 Cube, and a sixth-place finish. Anish Vishakan logged a first ever attempt at 2x2x2 with 6.65 and improved their 3x3x3 best by 25.4 percent to 18.72. Nithesh Balaji recorded a first ever attempt at Skewb in 27.91 and an 18.1 percent drop to 50.20 on 3x3x3, while Tatsat Bhagavatula tried 3x3x3 One-Handed for the first time in 1:26.92 and improved on 3x3x3 to 19.52.

Big cube mastery belonged to Dhruv Thirumalairajan, who orchestrated a sweep across the 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and 6x6x6 events at SSN Cube Open 2025. Thirumalairajan won the 4x4x4 Cube with a 32.02 average, prevailing over Bhargav Narasimhan who recorded a 40.01 average and Meganathan who finished at 40.49. In the 5x5x5 Cube, Thirumalairajan locked in a 54.48 winning average, clear of Meganathan at 1:09.58 and Shakthivel at 1:11.99. Thirumalairajan sealed the triple triumph in the 6x6x6 Cube, winning with a 1:41.99 average ahead of Shakthivel at 2:09.67 and Meganathan at 2:12.52.

In alternative solving formats, Bhargav Narasimhan demonstrated remarkable control in 3x3x3 One-Handed, claiming first place with a 13.04 winning average and an 11.32 single across 34 competitors. Narasimhan also conquered the 3x3x3 Blindfolded division, where competitors must rely entirely on memorization before executing their solution, winning with a 46.43 single. Meanwhile, Viswath Kumaraa Kesavaraj took the Pyraminx crown with a 2.90 average over two rounds, and Prashanth Swaminathan topped 62 competitors in the 2x2x2 Cube with a 2.93 average, ahead of Johan Peter at 3.13 and Advait Ajay Warrier at 3.36.

The premier 3x3 results concluded the weekend schedule at SSN Cube Open 2025, where Hari A. Deepak rose to the top of a 78-person field. Deepak posted a winning average of 7.92 seconds in the final round, anchored by a best single of 7.35 seconds to seal the victory. Across 16 rounds of speed cubing, Indian competitors claimed all 39 podium positions available during the WCA competition. The high standard of execution across both flagship puzzles and specialized disciplines made this gathering a memorable showcase of modern cubing competition talent.

मुख्य 3x3x3 Cube स्पर्धा में 78 प्रतियोगियों के बीच कड़ा मुकाबला हुआ। Hari A. Deepak ने दो राउंड्स के इस इवेंट में लगातार बेहतरीन नियंत्रण दिखाते हुए 7.92 के विजयी औसत के साथ पहला स्थान हासिल किया। उनका सबसे तेज एकल समय 7.35 रहा जिसने उन्हें पोडियम के शीर्ष पर पहुंचाया। 2x2x2 Cube स्पर्धा के दो राउंड्स में 62 प्रतिभागियों ने भाग लिया, जहां Prashanth Swaminathan ने 2.93 के औसत और 2.57 के सर्वश्रेष्ठ सिंगल के साथ जीत दर्ज की। Johan Peter 3.13 के औसत के साथ दूसरे और Advait Ajay Warrier 3.36 के औसत के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे।

अन्य नए और साहसी खिलाड़ियों ने भी इस वीकेंड यादगार शुरुआत की। Olin Jeremiah Pierson का यह पहला WCA कॉम्पिटिशन था जिसमें उन्होंने 5 स्पर्धाओं में हिस्सा लिया और Megaminx में 8वां स्थान हासिल किया, साथ ही 2x2x2 Cube में 7.32, 3x3x3 Cube में 38.91 और Skewb में 37.74 का पहला समय दर्ज किया। अपने पहले आधिकारिक मंच पर Jason Renish ने 5 स्पर्धाएं चुनीं और 3x3x3 Blindfolded में 6वां स्थान हासिल किया, साथ ही Megaminx में 3:31.54, 3x3x3 Cube में 23.55 और Pyraminx में 11.45 का स्कोर बनाया। Puviyarasan R ने भी डेब्यू करते हुए 4 स्पर्धाएं खेलीं और 4x4x4 Cube में 2:19.01, Pyraminx में 23.35 और 2x2x2 Cube में 23.16 का समय निकाला। वहीं Tejaswini S ने अपने पहले टूर्नामेंट में 4 स्पर्धाओं में भाग लेकर Skewb में 27वां स्थान, Pyraminx में 17.57, Skewb में 36.42 और 2x2x2 Cube में 20.66 का समय दर्ज किया।

अन्य स्पर्धाओं में Pyraminx के 45 प्रतिस्पर्धियों के बीच Viswath Kumaraa Kesavaraj ने 2.90 के औसत और 2.23 के सिंगल से फाइनल जीता। एक हाथ से हल करने वाली 3x3x3 One-Handed स्पर्धा में Bhargav Narasimhan ने 13.04 के औसत और 11.32 के सिंगल के साथ जीत दर्ज की। बिना देखे क्यूब हल करने की कठिन 3x3x3 Blindfolded स्पर्धा में भी Bhargav Narasimhan ने 46.43 के बेहतरीन सिंगल समय के साथ शीर्ष स्थान पाया। Square-1 में Nishanth Meganathan ने 12.20 के औसत और 8.61 के सिंगल के साथ जीत हासिल की, जिसमें Johan Peter 13.29 के साथ दूसरे और Mithilesh Gopalakrishnan 17.22 के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे।
