Canyon Pettitt Sweeps All Three Events at Spanish Fork AM 2024English

The Veteran's Memorial Building provided a focused setting on November 23 as solving mats clicked and timers reset across four rounds of tournament play. Spectators and participants gathered inside the Spanish Fork, Utah, USA venue for a compact morning schedule, where precision on every turn determined the outcome. In high-stakes speedcubing formats like the mean-of-3, there is no safety net or discarded low score, meaning a single lockup or mistimed alignment can dismantle an entire attempt. That razor-thin margin set the tone for a sharp day of action.

Across the schedule at Spanish Fork AM 2024, competitors balanced quick inspection with measured execution on every setup. The field of 28 competitors took on a specialised program featuring the classic 3x3x3 Cube, the shapeshifting Square-1, and the twelve-sided Megaminx. With no room for careless mistakes, navigating the intricate stages of complex puzzles demanded unwavering accuracy. Every competitor understood that consistency was the only path to the top of the standings.

Canyon Pettitt emerged as the dominant force of the entire cubing competition, capturing first place across all three featured events. In the 3x3x3 Cube, Pettitt led the field through two rounds of competition, ultimately claiming the title with a winning average of 8.13 seconds alongside a best single solve of 7.56 seconds. The 3x3 results secured him the top spot on the podium ahead of Adam Carpenter, who took second place with a 9.10 average, and Wilson Hettinger, who finished third with an average of 9.74.

The 2024 contest also brought sharp competition in the side events, where Pettitt continued his clean sweep. In the Square-1 event, featuring 20 competitors over a single round, Pettitt won with a 9.24 average and an 8.88 single. Wilson Hettinger locked up second place with a 10.56 average, while Cade Beck earned third with an average of 13.11. The demanding mechanics of the puzzle left little room for deviation, making clean turning essential throughout the morning.

The twelve-faced Megaminx tested stamina across 17 entrants, and Pettitt sealed his triple victory by finishing first with a winning average of 54.40 seconds and a round-best single of 51.04 seconds. Cade Beck followed in second place with an average of 1:10.17, while Adam Carpenter completed the podium in third place with a 1:14.06 average. With all nine available podium spots across the competition claimed by solvers representing the USA, the event highlighted strong regional mastery.

Away from the top of the podium, significant progress unfolded throughout the roster as competitors delivered massive breakthroughs.
