Dhruv Thirumalairajan Sweeps Big Cubes at South India Cube Championship 2025English

Dhruv Thirumalairajan delivered the defining masterclass of the weekend in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, securing a sweep across the largest puzzles on the schedule. Thirumalairajan claimed top honours in the 5x5x5 Cube, 6x6x6 Cube, and 7x7x7 Cube events, finishing with winning averages of 51.04 seconds, 1:28.71, and 2:14.97 respectively. The four-day South India Cube Championship 2025, staged at Ashoka One Mall from August 14 to August 17, tested endurance across 16 events and 40 rounds of rigorous tournament action.

The tournament schedule demanded precision from the very first turns. In multi-round events, the cut structure placed immense pressure on competitors to produce qualifying times right out of the gate. With 179 competitors assembling for the massive speedcubing gathering, round formats dictated that only the most consistent solvers advanced through the elimination tiers. A single hesitation on an opening solve often meant the difference between securing an average or missing the next round cut entirely.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event featured four full rounds for a deep field of 174 participants. Mohith B navigated each qualification cut cleanly, eventually capturing the title with a tournament-winning average of 7.24 seconds and a best single solve of 5.43 seconds. These decisive 3x3 results capped a dominant showing for Mohith B, who also secured first place in the 3x3x3 One-Handed event across three rounds with an 11.72-second average and an 8.66-second single.

In the shorter events, high-speed qualification formats rewarded explosive execution. Naren Ramesh captured the 2x2x2 Cube title with a 2.08-second average in the fourth round, finishing ahead of Mohith B and Advait Ajay Warrier. Dhairya Chiragbhai Dave took victory in Pyraminx with a 2.52 average, edging Sri Lanka solver Santhiviraj Harikesh at 2.59 and Naren Ramesh at 2.97. Sahas Darsh Miglani topped the Skewb event with a 3.27 average, while Shrey Relan posted a winning 3.69 mark in Clock.

Mid-tier and mechanical puzzles also featured deep brackets at the South India Cube Championship 2025. Kalidindi Hardhik Varma clinched the 4x4x4 Cube victory with an average of 28.77 seconds, surviving three rounds of competition. In Megaminx, Arghy Shravast logged a winning 41.34-second average across two rounds, while Harsh Vinayak claimed the Square-1 title with a 10.94-second mark, besting Shrey Relan and Yuvraj Agarwal on the podium.

Beyond the championship podiums, several solvers made substantial personal strides across diverse disciplines. Panji Thaman took on nine events, logging a 78.6 percent improvement in Clock with a personal best of 9.08 seconds compared to a previous 42.43 mark, alongside a first career Square-1 result of 1:16.76 and a first Megaminx result of 2:51.70. Reyansh Kasula entered ten events, securing an 8th-place finish in Clock, dropping their 2x2x2 Cube mark by 50.2 percent to 1.47 seconds, and registering initial times of 35.22 in 3x3x3 One-Handed and 7.18 in Clock. Mangkhanpao Kipgen tackled five events, slicing 46.9 percent off their 4x4x4 Cube best down to 1:00.53, improving in 2x2x2 Cube to 4.36, and recording a first 3x3x3 One-Handed solve of 33.90.

The spirit of broadening tournament horizons was visible across every stage of the weekend. Shivansh Dixit competed in ten events, delivering a first Megaminx result of 1:45.12, an initial 6x6x6 Cube time of 2:58.09, and a 39.1 percent personal best improvement in 3x3x3 One-Handed to 17.35 seconds. Harsha Vardhan Reddy also entered ten categories, registering debut marks in Megaminx at 2:48.32 and Clock at 25.93, while lowering their Skewb best by 31.6 percent to 7.93 seconds. Vedamsh Vishnubhotla took on eight events, logging first attempts at Square-1 with 35.86, Skewb with 8.80, and 3x3x3 One-Handed with 37.05.

The blindfolded categories tested mental stamina under strict cumulative limits. Dhruv Ambastha took the 3x3x3 Blindfolded crown with a 16.77-second single and went on to win the 4x4x4 Blindfolded final with a 2:34.94 average, besting Sukant Koul and Abhijeet Ghodgaonkar. With 45 podium placements earned by Indian competitors, two by the United States, and one by Sri Lanka, the South India Cube Championship 2025 closed having tested classical Rubik's Cube mastery and specialty events alike. The combination of demanding multi-round cuts and extensive event schedules made this major gathering in Hyderabad a defining landmark for the region.

From the early preliminary phases through to the closing finals at Ashoka One Mall, every round format tested the composure of the field. The South India Cube Championship 2025 concluded four days of rigorous competition, setting high standards of excellence for future stops on the competitive circuit.
