Haraldsen and Eliasson Split Gold Across Twelve Events at Sogndal Spring 2026English

Inside the halls of Sogndal Folkehøgskule, stacks of puzzle boxes sat beside tournament timers while competitors paced the floor and warmed their fingers between early inspection calls. Sogndal, Norway welcomed twenty-one participants for an early-season test running across March 7 and March 8. As the 2026 calendar gathers momentum, this speedcubing fixture provided an important gauge of early-year form, offering competitors seventeen rounds across twelve distinct events to test their winter training before a packed slate of continental fixtures later in the year.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew all twenty-one entrants through three full rounds of head-to-head racing on the classic Rubik's Cube. Kim Roger Haraldsen delivered a commanding run to secure victory, putting up a winning average of 6.24 seconds alongside the tournament's fastest single solve of 5.64 seconds. Niklas Aasen Eliasson took the silver medal with a 7.92 final average, while Ulrik Bredland joined them on the podium in third position on 8.40. The 3x3 results solidified a decisive start to the season for the top tier of Norwegian solving.

Haraldsen expanded his haul across the larger nxn puzzles and specialized formats at Sogndal Spring 2026. In 4x4x4 Cube, Haraldsen recorded a winning average of 25.85 to hold off Eliasson (31.65) and Bredland (35.90), after also producing the best single time of 22.63 seconds. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, Haraldsen picked up another victory with an 11.38 average, followed by Bredland on 14.12 and Eliasson on 16.60. Haraldsen rounded out his commanding weekend with outright victories in 2x2x2 Cube with a 1.43 average, 5x5x5 Cube in 46.91, and 6x6x6 Cube in 1:28.43.

Sharing top billing throughout the weekend was Niklas Aasen Eliasson, who swept the remaining half of the weekend schedule with six individual titles. Eliasson delivered a standout showing in Pyraminx with a 3.37 winning average ahead of Anders Barhaugen (6.16) and Marius Bergo Nielsen (6.78). In Megaminx, Eliasson edged Haraldsen in a tight duel, posting an average of 46.59 against Haraldsen's 47.35, while Barhaugen completed the podium on 1:20.49. Eliasson also claimed gold in Clock with a 3.32 average, Square-1 in 13.41, and Skewb with a 3.58 average ahead of Bredland and Barhaugen.

The technical side-events also highlighted Eliasson's mastery in memory disciplines at Sogndal Spring 2026. Taking the top spot in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where memorisation and execution must be performed entirely without sight, Eliasson locked in a 37.14 average and a 29.23 single. Marius Bergo Nielsen earned silver with a 48.54 average, while André Raunehaug rounded out the blindfolded podium on 1:30.81. Across the entire program, Norwegian competitors claimed all thirty-six podium places awarded at this cubing competition.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several participants made substantial strides during this WCA competition. Felix Stokstad Assefi recorded a 10.20 single on 2x2x2 Cube, an improvement of 37.6 percent over his previous mark of 16.34, alongside a 40.18 in the 3x3x3 Cube that was 21 percent faster than his prior 50.86, finishing 9th in 2x2x2. Bjørnar Berge chopped 35.4 percent off his 3x3x3 benchmark by locking in a 34.88 single compared to his previous best of 53.97. Magnus Meling-Raunehaug shaved 29.7 percent off his 3x3x3 best to reach 8.82 and secured 5th place in Pyraminx.

The spirit of expansion was equally visible among competitors attempting events for the very first time on official tables. Emir Can Karakus took on five disciplines, dropping his 2x2x2 personal best by 20.6 percent to 4.05 while logging first official attempts in 5x5x5 Cube at 3:56.63 and 6x6x6 Cube at 10:02.00, placing 7th in the six-layer puzzle. Eivind Stedje tackled nine events, posting initial attempts in Pyraminx with 8.51, 4x4x4 Cube with 1:27.37, and Skewb with 53.30, earning 6th place in Skewb. Solveig Marie Bergo Nielsen logged her first official Pyraminx attempt at 15.93, while Jan Lucas Krane secured a 4th-place finish in 2x2x2 Cube across a busy six-event program.

With early-season benchmarks now established, the speed cubing circuit moves forward into a packed spring schedule. Sogndal Spring 2026 provided an ideal proving ground in Western Norway, giving established champions and emerging competitors meaningful stage time across a complete multi-event roster. As training cycles adjust to the data logged in Sogndal, the stage is set for an intense year of progression across every corner of the community.

Kim Roger Haraldsen dominerte sprintøvelsene under Sogndal Spring 2026Norsk
