Darshan Bhavanasi Triumphs Across Multiple Events at Side Events Chennai 2024English
Inside the bustling halls of Hazel Realty Pvt Ltd, the rhythmic clacking of turning puzzles echoed through Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India on July 28, 2024. Competitors adjusted their timers and focused on their stations as 43 speedcubers gathered to push their limits across five demanding events. While the schedule bypassed the traditional Rubik's Cube to focus entirely on specialized disciplines, the stamina required to work through high-turn-count, complex mechanisms mirrored the deep focus and endurance often seen in big-cubes marathons. Side Events Chennai 2024 brought a concentrated test of mechanical skill, physical endurance, and adaptability across ten distinct rounds.
Leading the charge throughout the day was Darshan Bhavanasi, who put together a remarkable series of performances to capture three separate event titles. In the Megaminx, an event demanding sustained physical stamina and pattern recognition across twelve faces, Bhavanasi navigated a field of 19 competitors to take the top spot. He posted a winning average of 55.20 seconds alongside the competition's best single of 51.02. Mohamed Bilal secured second place with an average of 1:01.42, while Pranaov Srikanth claimed third on the podium with a 1:04.09 average.

The Square-1 contest provided another arena for Bhavanasi to shine among 22 competitors over two rounds of play. Nishanth Meganathan finished in second place with a 13.23 average, and Kunaal Parekh rounded out the podium in third with an average of 15.31. Siddharth Sriram followed closely in second place with an average of 4.79, while Jagannath Saha took third with a 5.61 average. In the Pyraminx, which featured the largest field of the weekend with 41 competitors battling across three rounds, Sai Mrudhun took top honours. Sai Mrudhun recorded a winning average of 3.51 seconds and logged a best single of 3.08 to claim first place.
