Lakshmi Sai Srivatsa Dominates Multi-Discipline Program in BengaluruEnglish

Twenty-six competitors gathered across two days of intense action at Janma Wellness Club as Side Events Bangalore March 2024 brought a dedicated slate of specialty puzzles to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Running from March 2 to March 3, 2024, the tournament packed twenty-one rounds across ten distinct disciplines into an exhilarating weekend. Speedcubing enthusiasts from across the regional circuit clashed over specialized hardware, setting aside traditional main-event focus to contest coveted podium honors in niche formats.

The multi-discipline rivalry saw Lakshmi Sai Srivatsa emerge as the weekend standout, capturing four individual titles. Srivatsa demonstrated remarkable consistency and dexterity, winning the Clock tournament with a winning average of 7.67 seconds and a best single of 6.66 seconds, finishing ahead of Nirmal Reddy and Aadhiran Thangarathan. Srivatsa followed up with a clinical showing in Skewb, taking the victory with a 5.07-second average while posting a single of 4.00 seconds. In the twelve-player Megaminx bracket, Srivatsa paced the field again, registering a winning average of 1:19.62.

Srivatsa completed a four-event sweep by topping the Square-1 field, claiming the final with an average of 27.00 seconds and a single mark of 20.99 seconds. In the blindfolded discipline, Lakshmi Sai Srivatsa added another podium placement by taking third with a single of 2:33.94, while Abhiram Narasimha took the top spot in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a winning single time of 1:07.16. Zain Behzaad secured the second spot on the blindfolded podium with a time of 1:24.12, navigating the complex memorization and execution under competition conditions.

Mikul Chanakya countered the multi-puzzle sweep with an authoritative double victory in high-complexity events. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Chanakya outpaced a nineteen-competitor field over three rounds, capturing the win with an average of 34.53 seconds and a sharp 33.65 single, finishing ahead of Lakshmi Sai Srivatsa at 40.12 and Raghav Vishwanath at 40.98. Chanakya doubled his gold medal tally in 3x3x3 One-Handed, winning the final with a 17.86 average and a 15.30 single to beat Arun Kannan and Vivek Prasad Mada.

The 2x2x2 Cube saw one of the closest finishes of the entire cubing competition, featuring twenty-five solvers battling across a single round. Arvin Ajith clinched the title with an average of 4.30 seconds and a best single of 3.17 seconds. Nirmal Reddy chased closely to finish second at 4.37, while Raghav Vishwanath claimed third at 4.51. In the Pyraminx division, Rajha Sirokshan led the pack with a 3.29 average and a 2.82 single, leaving Arun Kannan in second at 4.92 and Subash Karnan in third at 5.22.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors made substantial progress on their personal records and tackled unfamiliar disciplines for the first time. Pranay entered four events and achieved a massive 58.3 percent improvement on their Skewb personal best, lowering it to 6.31 seconds from a previous 15.12, while also posting a 14.4 percent drop in Pyraminx to 8.23 and logging a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 1:57.87. Navneet R cut 54.2 percent off their Pyraminx personal best to post a 5.27, placed 6th in Skewb on a first official try of 5.61, and completed a debut Clock attempt in 17.32.

The personal breakthroughs continued across the roster as Siddharth R. Kannan delivered a 35.8 percent reduction in their 2x2x2 Cube personal best to finish in 6.86 seconds, alongside initial career attempts in 4x4x4 Cube at 1:33.54 and 3x3x3 One-Handed at 1:09.14. Anagh Tengshe improved their 3x3x3 One-Handed time by 28.9 percent to 19.60 seconds to take an 8th-place finish, cut their 2x2x2 Cube mark by 21.3 percent to 2.52, and tried Clock for the first time with a 15.79. Ramganesh SS tackled seven events at the meet, achieving a best finish of 17th in 2x2x2 Cube while posting debut marks in Megaminx at 4:00.59, 4x4x4 Cube at 2:08.19, and Clock at 1:07.70. Andrin Ajith improved their Pyraminx standard by 14.9 percent to 10.69 seconds, reached 12th in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, and logged first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 44.40 and Clock at 31.50.

Strategic precision defined the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves event, where solvers analyzed unscrambled states without standard Rubik's Cube speed turn techniques. Vivek Prasad Mada claimed victory with a winning average of 39.67 moves and a single effort of 36 moves. Raghav Vishwanath secured second place with an average of 41.67 moves, and Jagannath Saha took third with 42.00 moves. The concentration required for the event rounded out a demanding schedule of traditional speed cubing and analytical solving.

With thirty podium finishes earned by Indian competitors, Side Events Bangalore March 2024 served as a premier regional showcase for non-standard disciplines. While fans regularly track classic 3x3 results, the deep schedule at this WCA competition highlighted technical mastery across Clock, Megaminx, and blindfolded formats. As the 2024 circuit continues, the strong benchmarks recorded in Bengaluru establish an exciting foundation for the next wave of regional rivalries.
