Side Events Bangalore July 2024 Tests Deep Field Across Multitude of DisciplinesEnglish

Darshan Bhavanasi produced the standout performance of the weekend in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, securing the Pyraminx title with a blistering 2.57-second average and a single solve of 1.57 seconds. That razor-sharp precision set the tone for an intense weekend of puzzle-solving across July 6 and July 7, 2024. Staged at the Janma Wellness Club, the event brought together 34 competitors across 10 events and 19 rounds of fierce knockout play. With deep brackets in nearly every category, advancing from the preliminaries to a final round demanded consistent excellence under pressure.

The competition, officially organized as Side Events Bangalore July 2024, put a heavy emphasis on non-traditional puzzles and specialty formats. Across two full days, the cubing competition showcased everything from geometric face-turners to intricate mechanical novelties. With the standard 3x3 Rubik's Cube stepping aside, fans tracking traditional 3x3 results instead turned their attention to high-stakes contests in speedcubing and blindfolded navigation. The sheer density of entrants meant every fraction of a second mattered in qualifying.

Bhavanasi continued his dominant form in the 2x2x2 Cube, topping a massive 31-competitor field with a winning average of 2.91 seconds and a 1.97 single. Rahul Dutta claimed second place with a 3.39 average, while Aarav Lad took third at 3.53 seconds. Bhavanasi also made an audacious run in 4x4x4 Blindfolded, demonstrating supreme versatility across completely different solving disciplines. The rapid-fire rounds left zero margin for handling errors as finalists were separated by mere hundredths of a second.

Rahul Dutta put on a masterclass of his own, collecting two major victories over the course of the tournament. In Square-1, Dutta commanded the final with a 15.53-second average and a 12.99 single, finishing comfortably ahead of Siddharth Ram at 23.01 and Nirmal Reddy at 29.41. Dutta doubled his gold tally in Skewb, logging a 7.18 average to outpace Arun Kannan and Anshul Badami Rao. Dutta rounded out his busy schedule with a third-place finish in the 4x4x4 Cube, proving his adaptability across wildly different twisty puzzles.

The 4x4x4 Cube final delivered one of the weekend's tightest battles, as Vivek Prasad Mada took the crown with a 47.98-second average, edging Krishanth Thangarathan at 49.12 and Dutta at 50.48. Mada was not done making his mark on the weekend, adding a dramatic victory in 4x4x4 Blindfolded with a lone successful single of 8:13.07, finishing ahead of Komahal Eswaran. In the three-round 3x3x3 One-Handed bracket, Arun Kannan claimed top honors with a 19.36 average, while Krishanth Thangarathan captured the Clock title in 7.45 seconds.

Away from the podium battles, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones across the schedule at Side Events Bangalore July 2024. Abhiram Iyer authored the weekend's biggest single improvement, dropping his 2x2x2 Cube mark by 57.9 percent down to 4.51 seconds. Dhruvaditya Ganesh matched that aggressive pace, carving 57.8 percent off his 2x2x2 personal best to finish at 5.45 seconds. Syed Sufyaan chopped his Skewb mark by 53.8 percent to 23.26 seconds while taking 10th in Clock, and Peruri Sanjiva Datta trimmed his 3x3x3 One-Handed best by 46.6 percent down to 33.59 seconds.

The depth of skill across the floor was further highlighted by Dheer Praveen Kaushik, who knocked 38.9 percent off his Skewb time to reach 6.70 seconds and took sixth in the 2x2x2 Cube. Sanjay Rajaguru finished fourth in Skewb after cutting his Pyraminx time by 29.6 percent to 6.11 seconds while logging his first official attempts in One-Handed and Clock. Rugved Pawar tackled eight events, improving his Skewb time by 29.7 percent to 6.64 seconds and trying Megaminx for the first time with a 1:53.71. Kanishka Charvak also took on eight disciplines, recording maiden official times in One-Handed, Square-1, and Megaminx.

Memory-intensive events brought a quiet tension to the venue. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, Zain Behzaad captured first place with an impressive single solve of 36.21 seconds, holding off Mada at 1:21.07 and Krishanth Thangarathan at 1:51.63. Megaminx action wrapped up with Aadhiran Thangarathan claiming the championship in an average of 1:17.70, besting Siddharth Ram and Arun Kannan. The technical mastery required across twelve-sided decahedrons and blind runs tested the mental endurance of every entrant.

By the time the final awards were distributed, the official WCA competition proved just how competitive the Indian speed cubing circuit remains. Side Events Bangalore July 2024 demonstrated that whether solving at breakneck pace or navigating complex puzzles without looking, reaching the final round in Bengaluru demanded absolute technical precision. As competitors look ahead to the next phase of the competitive season, the depth and parity displayed across this varied roster of side events set a high standard for regional tournaments.
