Side Events At KAVA 2024 Puts Fresh Faces and Specialty Puzzles Center StageEnglish

Neil Gour delivered the weekend's most eye-catching performance in Clock, locking in an average of 4.30 seconds and a single of 3.63 to lead the field in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The single-day WCA competition on June 2, 2024, brought 33 competitors to Kalpa Vriksha Academy for an intensive schedule strictly highlighting specialty formats. With 10 rounds across five non-standard categories, the atmosphere was defined by a large wave of fresh solvers taking their first official steps into these events alongside seasoned contenders.

While fans often monitor standard Rubik's Cube categories and typical 3x3 results, Side Events At KAVA 2024 shifted the spotlight entirely to non-traditional puzzles. The roster spanned Pyraminx, Skewb, Megaminx, Square-1, and Clock, challenging solvers across fundamentally different mechanics. Across the five disciplines, competitors from India earned 14 podium finishes alongside one podium finish for the USA, highlighting the broad depth of the regional speed cubing community in 2024.

Clock proved to be the most eventful discipline of the day, drawing 24 competitors across two rounds. Behind Neil Gour's winning 4.30 average, Jay Nikhil Gadgil secured second place with a mark of 4.50 seconds. Kaivalya Rakesh Parange rounded out the podium in third place with a 5.97 average, navigating a packed final that produced rapid times across the entire board.

The Pyraminx bracket featured 28 competitors and brought some of the fastest turnarounds of the competition. Imaad Sohel Ajani took the victory with a 3.30 average, aided by a best single of 1.96 seconds. Shivansh Chunduru claimed second place with an average of 3.89 seconds, while Sumiran Maiskar followed closely in third position with a 3.99 average.
