Seventy competitors gathered on March 30, 2024, as the Ballston Spa Elks Club hosted a packed schedule of speed cubing action. Saratoga Springs Newcomers 2024 brought together established contenders and fresh talent across 11 rounds and six distinct disciplines. Set in Ballston Spa, New York, USA, the gathering provided a platform for experienced campaigners to reassert their authority while newer solvers tested their skills against official timers.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew a large lineup of 68 participants across three intense rounds of speedcubing. Veteran competitor Jacob Schwartz delivered a masterclass in consistency, taking first place with a winning average of 8.10 seconds and setting the best single of the event at 6.87 seconds. Charles Amarello secured the runner-up spot with an 8.46 average, while Louis Meunier rounded out the podium in third with an 8.52 mark, finalizing the elite 3x3 results of the day.

Short-format specialist Maxence Leboeuf proved unstoppable in the smaller puzzles throughout the weekend. The Canadian competitor claimed victory in the 2x2x2 Cube with a 2.11 winning average, ahead of Aditya Arunkumar who finished second in 3.23 seconds and Jacob Schwartz in third at 3.25 seconds. Leboeuf carried that sharpness directly into Pyraminx, taking top honors with a 2.45 average over Evan Waters at 3.97 seconds and Jack Krieg at 4.03 seconds.

Technical complexity took center stage in the 3x3x3 One-Handed event, where Charles Amarello produced an impressive display of control to secure first place with a 14.71 average and a single of 13.84. Jacob Schwartz earned another podium spot by taking second in 16.19 seconds, closely followed by Evan Liu in third with a 16.36 average. The contest highlighted the depth of veteran talent present at Saratoga Springs Newcomers 2024.

Evan Liu enjoyed a standout tournament by capturing two titles across the day. In Skewb, Liu topped the 31-person field with a 4.54 winning average, edging out Jacob Schwartz with a 4.96 average and Jack Krieg with 5.23 seconds. Beyond the top steps of the podium, several participants delivered massive personal milestones across their routines. Brandon Davis logged an enormous improvement in 2x2x2 Cube, recording a personal best of 6.84 seconds to cut his previous mark by 63.2 percent. Sammy Corrocher took on four disciplines, securing a 17th-place finish in Skewb with a personal best of 6.94 seconds, which was 50.7 percent faster than his prior record, alongside a 23.5 percent cut in 3x3x3 Cube to 29.23 seconds.
