Louis Rodriguez Guerrero Sweeps Three Titles at Sambil Valencia Cubing Day 2023English

Louis Rodriguez Guerrero put on a masterclass at Sambil Valencia Cubing Day 2023, capturing three separate titles in a single afternoon of intense speedcubing. Held at Sambil Valencia in Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela, on February 26, 2023, the one-day gathering drew 32 competitors across four official disciplines. The headline victory came in the classic 3x3x3 Cube, where Rodriguez Guerrero sealed first place with a 10.36 winning average and an event-best single of 8.00 seconds. Across nine rounds of high-pressure solving, the event delivered exceptional talent to the tables.

For several participants, this WCA competition marked their first taste of official tournament play. Walking onto the competition floor for a debut run brings an unmistakable rush of nerves and focus. Unwrapping official scorecards, setting hands onto the timing mat, and managing the inspection timer under the eye of a judge is an entirely new trial for home solvers. The energy in Valencia welcomed four brand-new competitors into the global community, turning months of private practice into registered marks.

That newcomer spirit was clear from the opening rounds of the Rubik's Cube. Luis Aguilar made his official tournament debut here, stepping into three separate events and locking in a baseline single of 29.01 seconds in the main puzzle. Jesus Andres Rincon Añez also experienced his very first WCA competition, tackling three events and earning a 12th place finish in Pyraminx alongside a 39.02 opening single on the 3x3x3 Cube. Both joined a passionate local scene eager to test their skills.

Jonathan Samuel Rojas Gamboa delivered an impressive showing in his debut cubing competition, contesting three events and securing a 9th place finish in the 2x2x2 Cube with a 5.45 single. Abraham Quintero Vargas also took his initial steps into speed cubing at the venue, taking on three events and claiming 13th place in the 2x2x2 Cube with an opening mark of 7.40 seconds. Both showed poise under tournament conditions as they logged their inaugural entries in the World Cube Association database.

Beyond the newcomers, the under-the-radar contenders delivered dramatic progress across the board. José Ángel Luyo Santana took on four events and logged major leaps, dropping his 2x2x2 Cube personal best to 4.25 seconds, which was 68.2 percent faster than his prior mark, alongside a 4x4x4 Cube personal best of 1:16.80 that improved by 26.5 percent.
