Dewei Tan and Graham Siggins Command the Tables at SacQuiet Spring 2025English

Dewei Tan delivered a masterclass in efficiency at SacQuiet Spring 2025, capturing the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves title with a razor-thin advantage in single count and a winning average of 23.33 moves. Securing a best single of 22 moves, Tan edged out Calvin Nielson, who stayed within striking distance through all three attempts to secure second place with a 28.33 average and a 24 single. The focused battle at the top of the event showcased precision problem-solving at its finest, setting the tone for an intense single-day slate of niche disciplines.

Held on May 17, 2025, at a private residence in North Highlands, California, USA, the gathering brought together 17 dedicated competitors across four demanding disciplines. Unlike a conventional cubing competition packed with high-speed sprints, this boutique WCA competition was built entirely around blindfolded disciplines and fewest moves analysis. Across four rounds of play, solvers pushed the limits of spatial memory and rotational economy in an environment tailored specifically for quiet calculation.

In the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest, the podium fight featured sharp analytical play behind Tan and Nielson. Bowen Deng rounded out the top three by posting a calculated 34.00 mean of three to secure third place. The field of 15 competitors produced an array of personal milestones on the standard Rubik's Cube mechanism, with solvers working against the sixty-minute clock to formulate the shortest possible route to a solved state. When the scores were tallied, the gap at the top remained one of the sharpest demonstrations of efficiency of the year.

Beyond the 3x3 results, Graham Siggins produced a dominant sweep across every blindfolded discipline on the schedule. In 4x4x4 Blindfolded, Siggins seized first place with a winning single of 1:46.97, pulling away from Jason Ostdiek, who claimed second place in 5:47.18, and Naomi Solnick, who took third in 6:21.71. Siggins followed with a solo victory in 5x5x5 Blindfolded, posting a successful 2:58.31 solve while Emmett O'Leary-Liu and Samuel Martin both recorded DNFs in their attempts on the complex puzzle.

The 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event brought another commanding demonstration from Siggins, who solved 52 out of 66 cubes within 59 minutes and 25 seconds to lock down first place among nine entrants. Naomi Solnick delivered an outstanding performance to take second place, registering 13 points out of 14 attempted cubes in 47:08. Bowen Deng secured the third spot on the podium with a flawless 4 out of 4 cubes solved in 34:04, completing an exceptional showing across multiple disciplines.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several dedicated competitors reached noteworthy individual milestones during SacQuiet Spring 2025. Elvis Clark ventured into new territory by taking on his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, logging a successful single of 57 moves to finish 14th overall. Hamza Hafeez delivered an excellent personal best in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind with a 4 out of 5 result in 45:08 while tackling three separate events on the day to earn 5th place in Multi-Blind. Robert Alan Marks completed the fewest moves challenge with a best finish of 9th place, and Anoop Gill secured a 7th place finish in the same event.

Other regulars in the speedcubing community also delivered steady performances across the North Highlands tables. Chris Martin took on the fewest moves event to earn an 8th place finish, while Dan Pastushkov finished 11th in the identical discipline. In the 4x4x4 Blindfolded bracket, Jimmy Kingston took 5th place while tackling two separate events on the day, and Jacob Marinas mirrored that success by securing 5th place in his run through the 4x4x4 Blindfolded field.

The single-day meet concluded with United States competitors capturing 9 total podium spots, accompanied by 2 podium finishes for China and 1 for Hong Kong. From the meticulous rotations of fewest moves to the massive memory feats of multi-blind, SacQuiet Spring 2025 provided an ideal stage for speed cubing specialists to test their mental endurance and close out the spring season on a high note.
