Specialist Mastery and Community Spirit at SacQuiet Fall 2025English

Twenty competitors gathered in North Highlands, California, USA on September 27, 2025, for a focused meeting dedicated to the quietest corners of speedcubing. Held at a private residence, SacQuiet Fall 2025 brought together solvers whose craft relies on total concentration and deep problem solving rather than fast-paced scramble timers and loud cheering. Across four specialized events and four total rounds, the gathering prioritized shared expertise, steady camaraderie, and mutual encouragement across the blindfolded and analysis disciplines.

The environment of a boutique WCA competition centered around blindfold solving and Fewest Moves naturally creates a close-knit atmosphere between attempts. Competitors who tackle complex memorization protocols often spend their downtime comparing tracing methods, sharing notation systems, and reviewing reconstructed solutions. Unlike bustling arenas packed with hundreds of racers, this intimate cubing competition allowed participants to connect over the intricacies of puzzle theory and the unique mental endurance demanded by non-standard Rubik's Cube formats.

Stanley Chapel produced an exceptional weekend by securing three individual titles across the schedule. In 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, Chapel took first place with a winning average of 22.00, supported by a best single effort of 22 moves. Hong Kong solver Dewei Tan (譚得唯) finished second with an average of 26.00, while Calvin Nielson took third on a 26.33 average, recording a best single solve of 23 moves during his series.

Chapel extended his commanding form into the blindfolded disciplines, claiming victory in 4x4x4 Blindfolded with a 1:01.62 winning average and a fastest single solve of 57.26 seconds. Graham Siggins captured second place with an average of 1:45.78, and Cary Huang reached the third podium spot with an average of 3:56.41. In the 5x5x5 Blindfolded bracket, Chapel added his third top finish of the event, navigating the complex five-layer puzzle entirely from memory to post a winning single time of 2:30.60, leading Siggins who completed his best attempt in 3:18.22.

The 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event brought another remarkable display of endurance as Graham Siggins earned the gold by successfully solving 61 out of 65 cubes within a time of 58:24. Chapel earned the second-place spot on the podium after completing 32 out of 46 cubes in exactly 1:00:00. Cary Huang collected his second podium of the weekend by finishing third, successfully solving 14 out of 15 cubes in 57:40 to close out the upper tier of the 3x3 results in the marathon category.

Beyond the podium battles, several under-the-radar competitors delivered memorable contributions to the schedule. Naomi Solnick took on three separate events, highlighted by a personal best single of 6:15.82 on the 4x4x4 blindfold solve which earned a 4th-place finish. Hamza Hafeez also balanced a broad program by entering three events, securing a best finish of 8th in 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Yuki Nomura (野村優希) focused on 3x3x3 Fewest Moves and earned 4th place, while Dan Pastushkov took 8th in the same discipline. Jacob Marinas entered two events and earned an 8th-place result in 4x4x4 Blindfolded.

Other dedicated solvers added valuable depth to the day through their single-discipline campaigns. Jason Ostdiek participated in two events, earning an 8th-place finish in 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Chris Martin took on 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, completing the event with an 11th-place finish, while Robert Alan Marks also concentrated on Fewest Moves to capture 14th place. Goodwin Liu rounded out the group by contesting 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, earning 9th place in the extensive memory discipline.

The day concluded with high praise from the assembly for the unique format, reminding everyone why niche speed cubing gatherings remain vital to the larger community. As SacQuiet Fall 2025 came to an end, the quiet venue emptied with solvers already planning their next training blocks. The mix of elite mastery and personal milestone performances illustrated how shared passion elevates every solver who sits down at the table.
