Specialist Solvers Deliver Sharp Results at SA Side State Championship 2025English

Fourteen competitors gathered on May 18, 2025, for a day dedicated to non-standard events at the SA Side State Championship 2025. Held at Mitcham Cultural Village in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, the cubing competition brought together dedicated specialists across six distinct challenges. While major tournaments often spotlight standard speed cubing, this single-day schedule gave big cubes, fewest moves, and blindfolded events undivided attention.

The 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest proved to be one of the most productive segments of the meet, generating an array of official marks for the record ledger. Across the ten-person field, competitors worked against the clock to find efficient solutions on the classic Rubik's Cube mechanism. Jeffers Chan of Hong Kong secured the title with a winning average of 33.33 moves alongside a best single of 31. Adrian Oon followed in second place with a 34.33 average, while Aston Culf locked up third place averaging 36.33 moves.

Beyond the podium positions, the Fewest Moves round reshaped personal statistical sheets across the board. Felix Williams established an average of 42.33 moves with a single of 37, while Dallas McNeil turned in a 37.00 average backed by a 33-move single. Michael Tripodi posted a single of 29 moves, Aston Culf delivered a best single of 30 moves, and Rafael Chowindra logged a single of 38 moves. Even with several incomplete averages in the technical discipline, the event generated extensive official data.

Big cubes also produced commanding performances throughout the SA Side State Championship 2025. In the 6x6x6 Cube, Seth Ferry claimed victory with an impressive winning average of 2:03.10 and a meet-best single of 1:57.93 across twelve contenders. Adrian Oon took the silver spot on the podium with a 2:08.71 average, while Jeffers Chan finished third with a mark of 2:11.77.

Adrian Oon climbed to the top step in the 7x7x7 Cube, recording a winning average of 3:18.72 and a single of 3:03.68 among nine competitors. Xunyi Zhao took second place with an average of 3:24.83, and Jeffers Chan rounded out the podium positions at 3:40.57. Oon completed a prolific schedule at the SA Side State Championship 2025, securing podium finishes across multiple disciplines.

Beyond the title races, several competitors marked significant personal milestones away from the spotlight. Rafael Chowindra took on four events and achieved a massive personal best in the 6x6x6 Cube, recording a time of 3:43.79 that was 40.8 percent faster than his previous standard of 6:17.78, in addition to earning a best finish of fourth in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind. Dallas McNeil competed in five separate events, achieving a 3x3x3 Fewest Moves personal best of 33 moves, which improved his previous mark by 8.3 percent, alongside a fourth-place finish in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind.

Other dedicated speedcubing competitors made their presence felt through challenging multi-event campaigns across the weekend. Brock Hamann tackled four events and recorded a top result of fourth place in 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Nathanial Taylor entered two events and secured a best finish of ninth in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, matching the placement achieved by Samuel Chambers, who also took on two events and finished ninth in the same event during the WCA competition.

The blindfolded disciplines highlighted the afternoon, led by Michael Tripodi with an exceptional double victory. In 4x4x4 Blindfolded, Tripodi secured first place with a single of 1:39.13, ahead of Felix Williams at 2:41.68 and Jeremy Crouther at 16:00.00. Tripodi followed that performance by winning 5x5x5 Blindfolded with a best single of 3:21.68, while Williams finished second in 6:48.84. In 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, Carlo Malagar captured the win by successfully resolving 13 of 17 cubes in 55:58, besting Crouther with 6 of 7 in 48:10 and Oon with 2 of 3 in 18:45.

With 13 podium places for Australia, three for Hong Kong, and one for China, the SA Side State Championship 2025 demonstrated the depth of the local community. While standard 3x3 results typically define headlining weekends, this focused meeting highlighted the dedication and precision needed to conquer the sport's most complex challenges.
