Historic World Record Highlights Rubik's UK Championship FMC 2024English

Sixty-six competitors gathered across Multiple cities, United Kingdom on October 26, 2024, brought together by dedicated organizers, delegates, and venue volunteers who synchronized the multi-location tournament seamlessly. Coordinating simultaneous solving sessions in different venues required meticulous timing and strict adherence to World Cube Association standards. The volunteers ensured that every scramble sheet was delivered securely, every desk was prepared according to regulations, and every solution sheet was cataloged without delay.

The operational success of Rubik's UK Championship FMC 2024 provided the foundation for an extraordinary day of competitive solving. In 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, competitors spend sixty minutes per attempt analyzing the puzzle on paper, seeking the shortest possible sequence of rotations. The event differs entirely from standard speed cubing, relying on deep theoretical understanding and methodical block building rather than pure finger dexterity on the Rubik's Cube.

The single round of competition produced a milestone moment for global speedcubing when Jacob Sherwen Brown found a staggering 16-move solution. That stunning single broke the World record single in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, making it the headline achievement of the entire tournament. Brown went on to secure an overall average of 26.67 moves, highlighting an unforgettable performance engineered under tournament conditions.

At the top of the overall standings, the battle for the championship ended in a dead heat. Jaye Sloan and Fabio Schwandt shared the victory after both turning in matching averages of 22.33 moves across their three attempts. Each solver posted a best single of 20 moves during the round, creating an extraordinary tie for first place in a high-stakes WCA competition where every move counts.

Harry Savage completed the podium places by securing third position with an average of 23.00 moves, including a remarkable single of 19 moves. Kai Cui also finished with an average of 23.00 moves and a best single of 21 moves, while Rayan Islam took fifth place with an average of 23.67 moves after producing a sharp 19-move single. International contenders also left their mark, with Lichi Fang of China recording an average of 24.67 and Daniel Chiu of Hong Kong finishing on a 28.00 average.

Behind the top spots on the leaderboard, numerous competitors achieved major personal breakthroughs across the shared venues. Reuben Ingram led the personal improvements with an impressive 27.3 percent drop from an earlier mark of 77 moves down to a new personal best of 56, earning a 40th-place finish. Rayan Islam improved his personal record by 17.4 percent with a 19-move single on his way to 5th place, while Fergus Henstridge trimmed 17.9 percent off his previous benchmark to set a new personal best of 32 moves for 20th place. Charlie Butler made his own leap forward, improving 18.2 percent from a previous mark of 44 down to a 36-move single to place 48th.

The multi-city setup also gave several solvers the opportunity to tackle the discipline for the very first time. Emily Hart logged her first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a solid 36-move result to secure 24th place. Reuben Zane registered a 38-move solution on his first ever attempt at the event to finish 49th, while Amy Frohwein completed her first ever attempt with a mark of 42 to take 33rd.
