Sundararajan Grips One-Handed Crown at Rockfort City Cubing Challenge 2026English

A winning average of 14.34 seconds settled one of the most demanding disciplines in modern speedcubing over the weekend. At the Rockfort City Cubing Challenge 2026, held June 13 to 14 at Mahatma Gandhi Nursery and Primary School in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, India, thirty-four competitors lined up to test their single-handed dexterity. Solving the Rubik's Cube with only one hand requires extreme fingertip control, efficient ergonomics, and flawless lookahead to avoid lockups. Sundararajan proved master of the technique across two rounds, locking down victory with a best single solve of 12.10 on his way to gold.

The 3x3x3 One-Handed podium featured intense battles from start to finish. Sundararajan held off a stiff challenge from Naren Ramesh, who took second place with an average of 14.90 seconds. Nishanth Meganathan rounded out the podium in third place, averaging 16.67 seconds to cap an electric final round. The technical mastery demanded by one-handed solving set the tone for a thrilling weekend in the year 2026, as 72 competitors gathered in Trichy across nine distinct events and fourteen rounds of competition.

Naren Ramesh delivered an exceptional overall showing across the weekend, claiming top honours in two major short-format events. In the standard 3x3x3 Cube, Ramesh topped a field of 70 entrants across three rounds, securing the title with a tournament-winning average of 7.82 seconds and a blistering best single solve of 6.25 seconds. The 3x3 results saw Sriram Kartik Pillutla claim second place with an average of 8.50 seconds, while Sundararajan took third step on the podium at 9.04 seconds.

Ramesh doubled his gold medal haul in the 2x2x2 Cube, posting an average of 2.19 seconds and a quick single of 1.69 seconds across two rounds. The competition in the 2x2 event was razor-thin, with Sundararajan securing the silver medal just behind at 2.22 seconds and Muhammad Hanif taking the bronze at 2.45 seconds. Hanif had his own golden moment in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, taking victory with a remarkable 22.67 move average and a low single of 22 moves ahead of Ramesh and Nitheesh Kumar Elangovan.
