Corbin Rodriguez Sweeps Sprint Events at Rexburg Rumble 2025English

Inside the halls of Adams Elementary, the steady rhythm of twisting plastic and the sudden slap of palms onto timing mats marked an intense day of competition. A dedicated field of 38 competitors gathered in Rexburg, Idaho, USA on April 12, 2025, ready to test their agility across seven official disciplines. The atmosphere remained focused and energetic as solvers prepared their puzzles, scanned their opening moves, and waited for the starter signals to sound across 14 rounds of action.

The fastest events of the weekend delivered immediate excitement, led by a commanding display from Corbin Rodriguez in the short-format showdowns. Taking on a field of 36 solvers in the 2x2x2 Cube, Rodriguez secured the top step of the podium with a winning average of 3.13 seconds, highlighted by a blazing single solve of 1.72 seconds. Cade Beck followed closely in second place with a 3.28 average, while Lucas Chandler Moorehead took third place with a mark of 3.56 seconds.

Rodriguez carried that rapid momentum straight into the classic Rubik's Cube main event. Facing 38 entrants across two rounds, he posted a standout best single of 7.58 seconds on his way to securing first place with an 8.18 winning average. The remaining podium spots in the 3x3 results saw Moorehead claim second place with a 10.05 average, edging Ian Lawson, who secured third place with a 10.21 average. The double victory firmly cemented Rodriguez as the sprint leader at Rexburg Rumble 2025.

Beyond the sprint tables, the cubing competition showcased a wide variety of puzzle formats throughout the single-day schedule. Lucas Chandler Moorehead earned a title of his own in the Pyraminx, taking first place across three rounds with a 3.86 average and a 2.71 single, finishing just ahead of Isaac Buck at 3.93 and Cade Beck at 5.07. In the Clock event, Lowen Shattuck emerged victorious with a 7.39 average and a 6.48 single, leading runner-up Akoy Gregory at 8.48 and Buck at 9.98.

The longer and more complex disciplines tested competitor patience and precision at Rexburg Rumble 2025. Ian Lawson dominated the 5x5x5 Cube with a winning average of 1:03.16 and a sub-minute single of 57.38 seconds, outpacing Isaac Buck at 1:09.77 and Cade Beck at 1:12.42. Buck rebounded in Square-1, earning the victory with a 10.88 average and a 7.63 single ahead of Beck and Rodriguez. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, which requires complete memorisation before executing turns without sight, Conlin Alzheimer claimed the top spot with a best single of 1:03.66.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors turned in remarkable individual milestones across their schedules. Anthony Warren tackled six separate events, achieving a Pyraminx personal best of 3.48 seconds, which was 65 percent faster than his prior mark, along with taking fifth place in 3x3x3 Blindfolded. Emily Thurston slashed her Pyraminx personal best by 47.4 percent down to 10.85 seconds. Andrew Terpening logged personal bests across multiple puzzles, including a 24.14 in the 3x3x3 Cube that improved his previous best by 32.3 percent, alongside his first ever tournament attempts in Clock and Pyraminx. Ryker Harrison cut 30.2 percent from his 3x3x3 Cube time to reach 34.81 seconds while trying Pyraminx for the first time.

Other solvers similarly embraced new challenges and recorded major leaps in performance during the WCA competition. Ben Brower made his first ever attempt at the 5x5x5 Cube, finishing in 2:10.48, while shaving 25.6 percent off his 3x3x3 Cube mark to record a 19.64 personal best. Ty Davis improved his Clock single to 25.61 seconds, a 30.2 percent drop, and his Pyraminx single to 6.22 seconds. Reed Hurst attended his first WCA competition, recording his first official attempts in the 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, and Pyraminx.

From first-time competitors logging their very first times to the sharp sprint performances at the top of the standings, Rexburg Rumble 2025 delivered an engaging showcase of talent and improvement across every round.
