Bulambot and Tran Double Up as Speed Solvers Take Over Prescott Spring 2026English

Forty-five competitors gathered on April 19, 2026, for a high-tempo day of speedcubing that stood in sharp contrast to the slow, deliberate methods of events like Fewest Moves. Rather than sitting with paper, pencil, and an hour on the clock searching for single-turn efficiencies, solvers in Prescott, Arizona, USA, relied on lightning-quick recognition and blistering turn speeds. The action at Espire Sports was continuous, packing 10 rounds across 6 events into a single action-packed schedule.

The premier event of the cubing competition delivered rapid times from the opening round to the final. Jeremy Bulambot took the headline victory in the classic Rubik's Cube, producing a winning average of 6.97 seconds across three intense rounds. Quintin Audisho finished second with an average of 8.12 seconds, while Samuel Low locked up third place with an 8.61 average. Bulambot also supplied the fastest single turn of the event with a 6.05 effort, topping the final 3x3 results.

Bulambot was not finished with just the premier puzzle, adding a second title in the 2x2x2 Cube. In a field of 43 participants, Bulambot posted a winning average of 2.10 seconds and registered the best single time of the competition at 1.54 seconds. Emmett Galli captured the runner-up spot with an average of 2.38, while Dan Tran finished third at 2.46 seconds. The event was packed with breakthrough times, highlighting the sheer speed cubing talent present at the tables.

Dan Tran proved equally dominant across the larger and more complex puzzles, matching Bulambot with two event titles at Prescott Spring 2026. In the 5x5x5 Cube, Tran secured first place with an average of 57.37 seconds and a best single of 48.90, narrowly edging Matthew Tan who took second with a 57.66 average, followed by Bulambot in third at 58.12. Tran followed that performance by winning the Megaminx with an average of 51.66 seconds, ahead of Audisho in second at 57.26 and Mia Sponseller in third at 57.99.

Behind the top of the podium, a remarkable group of solvers logged major milestones throughout the WCA competition. Sawyer Mangum-Bartholomew enjoyed a standout day, trimming their Pyraminx personal best to 3.28 seconds, which was 45.7 percent faster than their prior mark of 6.04, alongside a fourth-place finish in 2x2x2 Cube. Roger Briggs also made tremendous gains, lowering their 3x3x3 Cube personal best to 15.66 seconds for a 39.6 percent improvement and their 2x2x2 Cube best to 5.76 seconds for a 32.8 percent drop, in addition to logging a first ever attempt at Pyraminx of 11.33 seconds. Hudson Mangum-Bartholomew improved their Pyraminx personal best to 15.02 seconds, cutting 31.5 percent off their earlier time.

First-time event entries and massive leaps in form continued across the roster. Ethan French improved their Square-1 personal best to 41.53 seconds, dropping 30.4 percent from their previous mark. Hunter Higginson logged a personal best of 3.98 seconds in 2x2x2 Cube, a 29.9 percent improvement, while making a first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Cube with a time of 3:34.52. Leo Torres advanced their Pyraminx personal best by 28.6 percent to 7.70 seconds. Peter Villeneuve registered a first ever attempt at Square-1 of 1:10.91 and improved their Megaminx personal best to 1:52.72, a 12.9 percent leap. First-time competitor James Swanson took on six events, finishing 17th in Square-1 while recording a 6.50 in 2x2x2 Cube and 10.19 in Pyraminx.

The side events provided thrilling races for the hardware as well. Quintin Audisho captured the Pyraminx title with a winning average of 2.65 seconds, just edging out Samuel Low whose 2.68 average earned second place, with Emmett Galli taking third in 4.17 seconds. In the Square-1 final, Brady Lawrence claimed the top step of the podium with a decisive 11.10 average and a best single of 9.16, followed by Low in second at 14.42 and Tran taking third at 15.26 seconds.

Every single one of the 18 podium positions went to representatives of the USA, wrapping up a memorable showcase of dexterity and tactical skill. As the timers were packed away and the tables cleared at Espire Sports, Prescott Spring 2026 concluded as a celebration of personal milestones and elite speed.
