Please Be Quiet Xi'an 2025

A blistering 20.38 single by Zicong Liu in the opening round set the tone for an intense day of blindfolded solving at Building A, Jingxin Commercial Plaza. The gathering brought 24 competitors together in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China on December 21, 2025, for a specialized test of memory and dexterity across four distinct events. The single-day WCA competition provided seven total rounds of action, demanding complete silence as solvers tackled memory-intensive puzzles without visual feedback, creating one of the most focused atmospheres on the speedcubing calendar.

The 3x3x3 Blindfolded category featured a full roster of 24 competitors and delivered remarkable 3x3 results across two rounds of play. Zicong Liu claimed the top step of the podium in the final with a best single of 22.64, having earlier established an average of 21.12 during the preliminary round. Zhe Wang secured second place with a final time of 32.07, while Sora Wenjie Xu captured third place with a solid 38.10. The speed cubing precision required for the classic Rubik's Cube while sightless made this contest a marquee attraction.

Beyond the podium battles, the floor was filled with solvers taking their first career steps into competitive blindfolded solving. Xingyu Liu stepped up for a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Blindfolded in an official setting, converting the pressure into a clean 43.30 single to earn a 9th-place finish. Xiaofan Li also took on a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Blindfolded, logging an official time of 3:12.24 across the single event entered. Siyu Han tackled a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Blindfolded as well, successfully navigating the puzzle in 8:05.26.

Other returning competitors delivered substantial personal breakthroughs on the tables. Zongze Li entered two events at Please Be Quiet Xi'an 2025, claiming a 7th-place best finish in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a personal best of 56.65, shaving 21.8 percent off a previous best of 1:12.46. Runsheng Li improved by 19 percent in the same event, dropping from a previous mark of 2:49.86 to a new personal best of 2:17.52. Xinyue Zhang achieved a 15.8 percent improvement, taking an official best of 5:21.97 down to 4:31.08.

In the 4x4x4 Blindfolded discipline, ten competitors lined up to manage the expanded piece count and complex parity cases of the larger puzzle. Zhe Wang emerged victorious across two rounds, locking in a winning best single of 1:54.27 to lead the field. Zicong Liu took the runner-up spot on the podium with a clocking of 2:07.32, while Sora Wenjie Xu earned third place by recording a 2:28.79. Managing the memorization load on the four-layered cube proved a decisive factor in separating the top contenders.

The 5x5x5 Blindfolded competition tested solvers on the highest piece density of the day, where Sora Wenjie Xu took first place among ten competitors with a winning average of 6:29.84 and a top single of 6:06.06. Yonghao Xu followed closely in second position, finishing the two rounds with a podium average of 6:37.57. Wenxuan Yue rounded out the top three by posting an average of 10:54.00, demonstrating immense concentration over long solving intervals at this specialized cubing competition.

The 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event brought 13 competitors to the floor for a single round of expansive memorization and endurance. Yonghao Xu captured the gold medal by successfully resolving 25 of 29 cubes within an elapsed time of 1:00:02. Zicong Liu finished in second place with 20 of 23 cubes solved in 57:32, while Zhe Wang secured third place after delivering 27 solved cubes out of 41 attempts in exactly 1:00:00, capping an extraordinary showcase of memory capacity.
