Please Be Quiet Hefei 2026

The competition floor inside the Jinao Hotel remained locked in focused concentration on May 10, 2026. Twenty solvers sat facing scrambled puzzles with blindfolds nearby, ready to commit complex permutations to memory in total silence. In long-form blindfolded events, success hinges on absolute precision across every solve. When mean-of-three rankings are on the line, a single misplaced slice or forgotten sequence results in a DNF, wiping away any chance of a completed average and leaving competitors with only their standalone singles.

That unforgiving format took center stage at Please Be Quiet Hefei 2026, a specialized WCA competition hosted in Hefei, Anhui, China. Across four demanding blindfolded events and six total rounds, the pressure of stringing together valid attempts was evident on every scoresheet. Both big-cube blindfolded finals concluded with DNF averages for the winners, proving how difficult it is to balance aggressive turning speeds against the mental stamina required for flawless execution.

In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, where three rounds gave competitors multiple opportunities, Yifan Wang (王逸帆) delivered an exceptional performance. Wang captured the victory with a winning average of 18.45 and posted a best single of 12.71 seconds. That blistering time established a new Asian record single in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, standing out as the definitive highlight of the 3x3 results during the event. Liren Sun (孙立仁) took second place with an average of 24.39, while Yuhang Sun (孙煜航) rounded out the podium in third at 31.89.

The 4x4x4 Blindfolded event showed the stark reality of the mean-of-three format, as Sora Wenjie Xu (徐文杰) claimed victory with a best single of 2:39.85 amid incomplete attempts that led to a DNF average. Yifan Wang (王逸帆) secured second place with a mark of 3:03.19, and Ziyi Xu (徐梓翼) earned third place in 3:14.65. With ten competitors taking on the challenging puzzle, securing a single clean solve proved decisive.

Big-cube blindfolded solving continued in 5x5x5 Blindfolded, where Ziyi Xu (徐梓翼) claimed the top spot on the podium with a winning single of 6:57.55 and a DNF average. Yifan Wang (王逸帆) placed second with a time of 9:04.04, followed by Yuhang Sun (孙煜航) in third at 9:31.18. In the 3x3x3 Multi-Blind discipline, Ziyi Xu (徐梓翼) took another victory by solving a perfect 23 out of 23 cubes in 51:50, while Yifan Wang (王逸帆) followed closely in second with 22 of 23 in 57:24 and Yuhang Sun (孙煜航) finished third with 23 of 35 in 1:00:00.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones across the schedule. Jiahao Han (韩嘉豪) took on four separate events, making a first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Blindfolded to finish fifth in 14:39.00, while also lowering his 4x4x4 Blindfolded personal best to 7:57.08, a 6.7 percent improvement from his prior 8:31.60 mark, and posting a 3x3x3 Multi-Blind best of 10/12 in 59:21. Yizhi Cui (崔益智) entered three events and tackled a first ever attempt at 5x5x5 Blindfolded, recording 27:57.00 for a seventh-place finish alongside a multi-blind personal best of 5/7 in 49:05. Jinghan Yang (杨景涵) completed a first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Multi-Blind with an impressive 10 out of 10 cubes in 36:10, securing fourth place.

Notable strides on the classic Rubik's Cube blindfolded format were achieved across the field as well. Jinjun Zhang (张晋军) entered two events and achieved a 3x3x3 Blindfolded personal best of 1:00.50, cutting 14.1 percent off a previous best of 1:10.45 while securing seventh place in 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Fan Zhuo (卓凡) focused on a single event and took fifth place in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a personal best of 26.57, which was 9.7 percent faster than his earlier 29.44 mark. Zijun Liu (刘子钧) entered three events, taking fourth place in 4x4x4 Blindfolded and lowering his 3x3x3 Blindfolded personal best to 44.01, improving by 7.1 percent from 47.37.
