Specialists Shine Across Distinct Dissections at Phitsanulok Cube Fest 2025English

The tables at Saint Nicholas School hummed with focused energy as timers clicked and puzzle mechanisms whirred across two action-packed days. In the historic setting of Phitsanulok, Thailand, competitors gathered from June 7 to June 8 for a high-tempo WCA competition that brought together 23 competitors across 17 rounds. While the classic Rubik's Cube always commands attention, this weekend was defined by the depth of variety on the schedule, where distinct skills and niche disciplines took center stage.

The unconventional disciplines provided immediate drama, led by an exceptional display in the Clock event. Jaidon Poraminthara Lin from Taiwan captured the title with a tournament-best winning average of 3.94 seconds, powered by a remarkable single solve of 2.87 seconds. Newken Nguyen claimed second place with a 4.33 average, while Amolrada Ratchayakorn locked up third place with a 5.96 mark. The mechanical demands of the dual-faced dial puzzle demanded complete composure, setting a high standard for technical mastery.

Blindfolded solving presented its own intense hurdles, requiring competitors to commit piece arrangements to memory before donning their blindfolds. Aris Raksamani took top honors in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, logging a winning single of 50.65 seconds to secure victory for the host nation. Bannawit Pimpanuwat secured the runner-up spot with a time of 1:36.17, while Enyu Lu completed the podium with a single of 3:49.39. The single-round format left no room for error, rewarding pure recall and execution.

The massive big cubes brought endurance into the spotlight, dominated by Thailand standout Asia Konvittayayotin. In the 7x7x7 Cube final, Konvittayayotin earned gold with a commanding winning average of 2:07.29, which included a blisteringly fast single of 1:58.54. Chisanupong Chulasereekul finished second at 3:00.42, followed by Anukun Supcharoenkun in third at 4:04.94. Konvittayayotin repeated the feat on the 6x6x6 Cube, taking first place with an average of 1:25.99 and a single of 1:22.64 ahead of Chulasereekul and Supcharoenkun.

Beyond the podium battles, several competitors achieved meaningful career milestones across diverse events. Nattan Udomkham delivered one of the weekend highlights by taking on 3x3x3 One-Handed for the first time with a 22.04 result, while slicing 35.1 percent off their standard 3x3x3 Cube personal best to reach 11.49 seconds, alongside a 3.89 in 2x2x2 Cube. Norrawit Pluemchit tackled eight events, setting personal bests of 3.87 seconds in Pyraminx (a 35.1 percent improvement), 22.64 in 3x3x3 One-Handed, and 5:04.49 on the 7x7x7 Cube while earning a 5th-place finish.

That spirit of growth continued across the field throughout the cubing competition. Surachai Donprisin expanded their repertoire with first-ever competition attempts in both Skewb at 39.31 and Clock at 34.49, while shaving 10.4 percent off their 3x3x3 Cube personal best down to 27.59. Similan Leksarist competed across four events and posted an inaugural Pyraminx mark of 29.08. Ashawin Mendee Vijitchareonmeung also embraced new territory, logging a first career 3x3x3 One-Handed solve of 55.68 seconds alongside three event entries.

The speed cubing momentum carried through to the shorter events, where Canadian competitor Newken Nguyen showcased incredible dexterity. Nguyen swept the pyramid-shaped Pyraminx with a sharp 2.59 average and a best single of 2.13, finishing ahead of Asia Konvittayayotin and Amolrada Ratchayakorn. Nguyen also conquered the corner-turning Skewb event, posting a winning average of 3.61 seconds and a top single of 2.47 across two rounds of play.

Nguyen maintained that explosive speed in the 2x2x2 Cube, taking victory with a rapid 1.46 average and an exceptional 1.05 single, finishing ahead of Teeradon Hemavibool and Enyu Lu. Meanwhile, Asia Konvittayayotin demonstrated exceptional dexterity in 3x3x3 One-Handed, securing first place with a 13.96 average and a single of 12.40, outlasting Trust Chaiaya in second at 14.97 and Nguyen in third at 15.29.

The main event capped off Phitsanulok Cube Fest 2025 with classic three-by-three drama across three full rounds of play. In the final 3x3 results, Newken Nguyen clinched the victory with a 7.38 winning average, highlighted by a 6.41 single solve. Asia Konvittayayotin secured the silver medal with an average of 8.23, while Kanneti Sae Han earned third place with a 9.40 mark. The overall medal count reflected a strong showing across all nine disciplines, with host nation Thailand gathering 17 podium places.

With 9 events contested across 17 rounds, Phitsanulok Cube Fest 2025 delivered an outstanding showcase of speedcubing talent in 2025. From the intricate dials of the Clock to the massive hardware of the seven-layered cubes, participants pushed their personal boundaries and celebrated the full spectrum of competitive solving. As the venue cleared at Saint Nicholas School, competitors took away new personal bests and a memorable weekend of competition.
