Consistency Drives Success Across Specialist Events at Park Slope PBQ 2025English

Nineteen competitors gathered at the Logicus Math School in Brooklyn, New York, USA, from November 22 to November 23, 2025, for a weekend dedicated to the most demanding disciplines in speedcubing. Over seven rounds and five events, the Park Slope PBQ 2025 proved that sustained precision across multiple attempts reliably decides outcomes over erratic burst speed. The schedule focused entirely on specialty events including blindfolded variations and move efficiency, demanding total concentration from every solver on the floor.

The 3x3x3 Fewest Moves contest provided the clearest display of consistent execution outlasting isolated brilliance. Chris Chi secured victory with a winning average of 21.67 moves across three attempts, supported by a best single of 19. Alexei Sinyavin claimed second place with a 23.00 average, while Jack Lee took third for Canada with an average of 25.67 moves. Rather than relying on a single fortunate reconstruction, Chi sustained efficient planning across all three rounds of the classic Rubik's Cube variant to take the top step.

Brandon Lin produced a dominant sequence across multiple blindfolded categories, demonstrating exceptional memory work throughout the weekend. In 3x3x3 Blindfolded, Lin captured the victory with a best single of 24.79 seconds across two rounds of action. Parker Trager earned second place with a time of 47.28 seconds, and Chris Chi completed the podium in third place with a 52.02 effort. Lin also logged a 36.31 average during the event, confirming reliable control in a discipline that demands rigorous memorisation.

Lin extended that high-level stability into 4x4x4 Blindfolded, winning the single-round event with a time of 3:37.38. Parker Trager finished second with a time of 5:04.35, while Canada's Serena Meng claimed third on the podium with a result of 9:47.79. Across the large-cube blindfolded category, success relied on disciplined spatial orientation and tracking multiple moving layers without visual confirmation, separating the measured attempts from missed opportunities.

The multi-cube discipline offered another showcase of Lin's steady execution. In 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, Lin secured first place by successfully resolving 34 out of 37 cubes in a time of 56:01. Parker Trager maintained flawless accuracy across his entire set to finish second, recording 12 of 12 cubes in 55:35. Chris Chi took third position by solving 11 of 13 cubes in 45:47, rounding out a podium where every competitor managed double-digit successful solves.

Beyond the title fights, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones away from the top steps. Rafael Daniella Gabinete delivered a massive leap in 3x3x3 Blindfolded, clocking a personal best of 3:12.25 to improve by 61.4 percent over an earlier mark of 8:18.61. Gabinete also made a first career attempt at 3x3x3 Fewest Moves with a 52, tackled 3x3x3 Multi-Blind for the first time with a 2/2 in 14:10, and placed seventh in that event. Tyler Lindow Tsao dropped their 3x3x3 Blindfolded personal best by 36.6 percent down to 2:37.53, while finishing eighth in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves.

Other athletes embraced fresh challenges across the weekend program. Austin Reed achieved a personal best of 24 in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, a 22.6 percent improvement, alongside a fourth-place finish in 3x3x3 Blindfolded. Ayden Dincher competed across four events, logging a personal best of 29 in Fewest Moves, a personal best of 4/4 in 31:57 for Multi-Blind, and a first attempt at 4x4x4 Blindfolded in 17:28.00 to finish fifth. Kyler Liang registered a first attempt in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves of 52 and a first attempt in 3x3x3 Blindfolded of 11:55.00. Nicholas Trofimov posted a 41 on a first Fewest Moves attempt to place seventh, Sky Hong notched a 25 in their first Fewest Moves attempt to finish sixth, and Alex Hamburg secured a fifth-place finish in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind.

The 5x5x5 Blindfolded competition proved uniquely challenging for the field, as all six entrants, including Eli Rogers, Chris Chi, Ishaan Lal, Parker Trager, Brandon Lin, and Salil Desai, recorded DNFs in their respective attempts. With 16 podium places captured by the USA and two by Canada, the gathering highlighted the international breadth of specialty solving under official tournament conditions.

With the conclusion of Park Slope PBQ 2025, competitors in Brooklyn closed the books on another dense test of patience and concentration. From standard blindfolded 3x3 results to expanded multi-cube arrays, the WCA competition proved that steady routines and reliable execution remain the decisive factors in competitive speed cubing as participants prepare for upcoming challenges in the next season.
