Evan Liu Sweeps Four Events as Palmyra Spring 2026 Caps the Spring SeasonEnglish

Evan Liu produced a commanding four-event sweep across the board, capturing the 3x3x3 Cube, 7x7x7 Cube, 3x3x3 Blindfolded, and 3x3x3 Multi-Blind titles to define the day. As the late-spring calendar turned toward the summer stretch, the single-day gathering gathered 27 competitors across seven distinct events. Liu set the tone for the entire meet by converting critical attempts in memory disciplines and speed disciplines alike, highlighting how high-level puzzle solving shifts into top gear at this stage of the competitive year.

Held on May 31, 2026, Palmyra Spring 2026 brought a concentrated field to the Palmyra Moose Lodge in Palmyra, New York, USA. Operating under official World Cube Association regulations, the cubing competition staged 10 rounds across a broad spectrum of twisting puzzles. Across the afternoon, regional contenders seized one of the final spring opportunities to log official marks, test preparation against top rivals, and measure progress on the regional leaderboard.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew 26 entrants through two competitive rounds, culminating in a fast-paced final. Liu earned the victory with a 7.91 winning average and delivered the fastest single solve of the event at 6.57 seconds. Evan Waters secured second place with an average of 8.08 seconds, while Louis Truong completed the podium in third with an 8.80 mark. These decisive 3x3 results confirmed Liu at the front of the pack across the main Rubik's Cube category.

Liu expanded his winning haul by taking the 7x7x7 Cube title in a dominant average of 2:42.19, backed by a 2:38.25 single. Truong followed in second with 2:47.39, while Patrick Strawder rounded out the top three at 3:05.41. In blindfolded disciplines, Liu secured the standard blind solve with a 58.81 single, ahead of Yili Yi at 1:22.41 and Joshua Wright at 1:22.45. Liu then topped 3x3x3 Multi-Blind by resolving 10 of 16 cubes in 57:34, while Wright placed second with 7 of 13 cubes in 1:00:00.

Beyond the memory challenges and big cubes, the speed cubing program featured intense side events. Andrew Mao delivered a sharp double victory in Pyraminx and 2x2x2 Cube. Mao took the Pyraminx final with a 1.74 average and a 1.26 single, leading Waters at 3.03 and Liu at 3.75. Mao also won the 2x2x2 Cube final in 2.31, ahead of Waters at 2.73 and Lauren Phung at 2.93. In Square-1, Waters climbed to the top step with a 9.62 winning average and a 6.59 single, besting Mao at 13.11 and Liu at 13.51.
