Theo Goluboff Dominates With Seven Titles at Pai Open VCP 2025English

Inside Club Atletico Carlos Paz, the steady click of rotating layers and the tap of hands hitting timing mats set the rhythm for a weekend of intense puzzle solving. Competitors gathered across two days of action from January 25 to January 26, focused entirely on shaving fractions of a second off their times. The atmosphere throughout the venue combined the sharp focus of high-level play with the shared camaraderie of a dedicated community. Staged in Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba, Argentina, the Pai Open VCP 2025 welcomed 42 competitors taking on 12 official events spanning 23 rounds of competition.

The 2025 gathering proved to be a clinic in multi-event mastery, with Theo Goluboff delivering a staggering run across virtually every category. Goluboff captured the premier 3x3x3 Cube title, securing the top spot with an exceptional 6.20 winning average and a round-best 5.16 single. The final 3x3 results cemented his place atop the podium, ahead of Bautista Bonazzola who recorded a 7.91 average for second, and Manuel Gutman who rounded out the top three with an 8.42 average. Goluboff also led the field in 3x3x3 One-Handed, winning with a 10.60 average, and secured first place in Pyraminx with an average of 3.07.

Goluboff extended his dominance across the larger mechanisms as well, securing victories in the 5x5x5 Cube with a 50.30 average, the 6x6x6 Cube with a 1:30.84 average, and the 7x7x7 Cube in 2:19.27. In the 7x7x7 event, Bonazzola took second with 2:51.89 and Guido Dipietro earned third with 3:10.58. Goluboff also added a victory in Clock with an average of 7.15 and a best single of 3.92, bringing his total title haul to seven across the weekend. His versatility across small and big puzzles set a high benchmark throughout the WCA competition.

The classic Rubik's Cube was not the only puzzle featuring sharp clashes at the top of the standings. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Manuel Gutman took the victory with a 27.54 average, edging Goluboff who finished second with 28.53 and Bonazzola who took third with 29.81. Gutman also proved his mental endurance in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, taking first place with a winning single solve of 17.20 seconds, outperforming Dipietro who took second with 22.55 and Goluboff in third with 30.61. The discipline of blindfolded solving requires total memorisation under strict time pressure, making Gutman's single a standout mark.
