High Stakes and Tight Margins Define Nexta Andorra Championship 2026English

Inside Hotel Sant Gothard in Arinsal, Andorra, the atmosphere throughout the weekend of October 10 to October 12 was defined by absolute focus and ticking timers. Puzzles turned at blistering tempos as competitors gathered for three days of intense speedcubing action in 2026. Long tables filled with timing mats and displays became the focal point of the hall, where every turn counted and any slight miscalculation could instantly derail a podium chase.

Mean-of-three disciplines and extended formats demand ruthless consistency, where a single lockup or misplaced piece carries severe consequences. Without the cushion of dropping a worst solve, every individual attempt dictates the outcome of the entire event. At the Nexta Andorra Championship 2026, this razor-thin margin separated triumph from heartbreak across eleven contested events, forcing entrants to balance raw aggression with calculated precision across every solve on their schedule.

The flagship 3x3x3 Cube contest delivered one of the most remarkable highlights of the cubing competition. Lorenzo Escobar Kraskouskaya secured the title for Spain with a blistering 6.10 mark, setting a new Spanish national record average in the process. Alex Rosado Saez de Langarica claimed the second spot on the podium at 8.19, while Biel Salmons Gonzalez took third with an 8.32 result. These standout 3x3 results underscored the immense technical preparation required to maintain speed across high-pressure attempts.

Beyond the classic Rubik's Cube, Alex Rosado Saez de Langarica orchestrated a dominant multi-event campaign across the weekend. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Rosado Saez de Langarica grabbed the gold with a 31.79 mark, narrowly edging out Salmons Gonzalez at 31.92 and Escobar Kraskouskaya at 37.02. In the 5x5x5 Cube, Rosado Saez de Langarica triumphed again with a 1:00.06 mark ahead of Escobar Kraskouskaya's 1:01.95 and Salmons Gonzalez's 1:03.00, demonstrating command over larger hardware.

Rosado Saez de Langarica expanded that collection of gold across side events, taking the Megaminx crown with a 38.31 solve ahead of Arabel•la Puig Villacorta at 47.21 and France's Nox Clémenceau at 1:01.79. In Skewb, Rosado Saez de Langarica set the winning pace at 1.93, followed by Albert Mandicó Sampol at 3.85 and Morocco's Mohamed Ben Driss Chokri at 4.73. Spain ended the WCA competition with 29 podium spots, alongside three for France and one for Morocco.

Away from the top steps of the podium, numerous competitors delivered breakthrough moments across their brackets. Laura Martí Bons entered five events and recorded a personal best of 6.86 in Pyraminx, which was 51.6 percent faster than her prior mark, alongside a first attempt at Clock of 14.66 and an eighth-place finish in Skewb. David Hoffmann achieved a fourth-place finish in 2x2x2 Cube with a personal best of 1.81, cutting 37.2 percent off his previous record, while also posting a 1:12.64 in his first 4x4x4 Cube attempt. Irene Navarro Hernández registered her first official 3x3x3 One-Handed attempt at 1:55.17 and cut 41.1 percent off her 2x2x2 Cube personal best to hit 4.72. Jean-Louis Membrives took on ten events, finishing sixth in 4x4x4 Cube while slicing 40.8 percent off his Square-1 best with a 31.83.

The progress continued across all experience levels throughout the speed cubing field. Albert Valentí Vergara tackled seven events, logging his first Megaminx result at 3:08.10 and improving his 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 19.5 percent down to 3.52. Dylan Ong Zi Xuen finished fourth in 4x4x4 Cube and lowered his 3x3x3 One-Handed personal best by 18.2 percent to 14.15. Pietro Di Cerbo competed in his first career tournament, entering three events and logging inaugural marks of 29.16 in 3x3x3 Cube and 8.31 in 2x2x2 Cube. Meanwhile, Nur Navarro Figueras contested eleven events, placing fourth in Square-1 with a personal best of 11.27 and dropping 34.5 percent off her 2x2x2 Cube best down to 3.02.

Short-format puzzles and specialist categories provided thrilling conclusions to the schedule. Ot Caminals Aleu captured two victories, winning 2x2x2 Cube in 2.48 ahead of Mandicó Sampol at 2.68 and Rosado Saez de Langarica at 2.73, before taking 3x3x3 Blindfolded in 32.92 ahead of Wilfrid Py at 49.70 and Clémenceau at 1:07.24. In Clock, Leny De Pablo Hosty won with 7.26, narrowly besting Peio López de Biñaspre Jaureguibeitia at 7.36 and Núria Carrillo Pascual at 7.40.

The Nexta Andorra Championship 2026 concluded with a rich showcase of high-level solving and personal milestones in Arinsal. From national records to debut solvers breaking new ground across diverse events, the gathering reinforced the precision and resilience required to succeed in modern competitive cubing.
