A total of 76 competitors gathered on October 11, 2025, for a packed single day of speedcubing action at Northern Illinois University - Naperville. Hosted in Naperville, Illinois, USA, the gathering brought together talent from across the region to contest 12 rounds across five official events. From explosive sprints to memory tests, the 2025 tournament delivered top-tier speed cubing action that kept spectators captivated through every round of play.

Brian Johnson set the standard for the entire meet by securing a decisive double victory in the shortest formats. In the 3x3x3 Cube, the premier discipline of any Rubik's Cube gathering, Johnson maintained an unyielding pace across three rounds, capturing the title with a 5.83 winning average and delivering the round best single of 5.56 seconds. Mihir Narayan took second place with a 7.03 average, while Zeke Mackay followed closely behind in third at 7.16 seconds.

Johnson extended his mastery to the 2x2x2 Cube, where he blew away the field of 66 competitors across two intense rounds. Posting a blazing 1.29 winning average along with the tournament best single of 0.66 seconds, Johnson secured his second gold of the day. Simon Kellum earned runner-up honours with a 1.71 mark, and Sebastian Carrillo completed the podium in third place with a 1.92 average.

While Johnson commanded the small cubes, Simon Kellum produced a masterclass on the Pyraminx. Kellum led a 56-competitor field through two rounds, setting a winning average of 1.56 seconds alongside an exceptional 0.88 single in the final. Zeke Mackay stepped onto his second podium of the weekend by finishing in second place with a 2.60 average, while Johnson added yet another medal to his haul by claiming third place at 2.85 seconds.

The 5x5x5 Cube brought extended tactical solving into focus across three demanding rounds. Mihir Narayan delivered a clinical performance to seize first place among 42 competitors, recording a 48.99 winning average and a 47.18 single. Amey Gaba followed in second place with a 50.09 average, while Zeke Mackay locked down his third medal of the day by securing third place at 53.79 seconds.

In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded discipline, solving without sight demanded total concentration and spatial memory across two rounds. Thomas Reinke emerged triumphant among 21 entrants, putting together a commanding 35.72 winning average and a 34.20 best single. Eric Che earned second place with a solid 37.10 average, and Zeke Mackay added a fourth podium placement to his impressive weekend schedule, finishing third with a 1:12.36 average.

Away from the top steps of the podium, Naperville Fall 2025 saw remarkable individual breakthroughs across the floor. Preston Holden-Hergott recorded massive personal improvements, slicing his 2x2x2 Cube best by 58.9 percent down to 5.77 seconds and sharpening his Pyraminx mark by 9.1 percent to 9.49 seconds. Evan Mathew dropped his 2x2x2 Cube personal record by 58.3 percent to 9.01 seconds while trimming his 3x3x3 Cube best by 14.4 percent to 25.79 seconds. Adit Shah improved his 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 45.2 percent to 19.76 seconds and reduced his 2x2x2 Cube record by 25.1 percent to 8.61 seconds. Eduardo J. Iniguez took on four events, making his first official attempts at Pyraminx in 7.56 seconds and 5x5x5 Cube in 2:57.91, alongside a 43.4 percent improvement on 2x2x2 Cube to 4.46 seconds.

First-time entrants and expanding repertoires shaped the true character of this WCA competition. Aarush Shah made an impressive tournament debut across three events, logging a 5.05 mark in 2x2x2 Cube, 14.64 in 3x3x3 Cube, and 9.15 in Pyraminx. Bryson Hutton contested his first official event slate across five disciplines, recording inaugural times of 7.62 in 2x2x2 Cube, 26.36 in 3x3x3 Cube, and 12.54 in Pyraminx. Matthew Ha made his first ever attempts at 2x2x2 Cube with a 1.96 result and Pyraminx in 6.43 seconds, while placing 11th in the 3x3x3 Cube. Juliet Soley tackled five events, finishing seventh in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a 7:28.69 personal best that was 30.1 percent faster than before.

The final 3x3 results and overall tallies reflected a vibrant day of competition, with competitors from the USA securing 12 podium spots and representatives from India taking three. As the tables were cleared at Northern Illinois University - Naperville, the outstanding multi-event displays and personal milestones confirmed Naperville Fall 2025 as a standout cubing competition for the Midwest region.
