Experienced Hands Set the Standard at Nacionales Honduras 2026 in SiguatepequeEnglish

Saul Sebastian Lemus Mejia delivered the defining moment of Nacionales Honduras 2026 by breaking the national record single in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a remarkable 59.11 solve. The sub-minute performance, requiring complete memorisation before executing turns without sight, stood out as the sharpest display of veteran poise across two days of competition. Held over June 13 and June 14 at the Cinema Aventura in Siguatepeque, Honduras, the weekend brought together 38 competitors across 14 events and 19 rounds of high-level puzzle solving. It was an emphatic demonstration of experienced hands returning to their very best form under pressure.

The broader schedule showcased seasoned competitors asserting control over marquee disciplines. Fares Daniel Flores Hernández put together an authoritative showing across multiple short-format events. In the classic 3x3x3 Cube, Flores Hernández secured top honours by logging a winning average of 10.57 and a best single of 10.40 across three rounds of play. The 3x3 results confirmed his command over the standard Rubik's Cube, but his versatility stretched well beyond the main event, setting a high standard for the entire field of competitors in Siguatepeque.

Flores Hernández continued his sweep by claiming victories in three other categories. In the 2x2x2 Cube, he posted a winning average of 4.12 alongside a best single of 2.70 across two rounds of 28 competitors. Transitioning to the heavier 4x4x4 Cube, he took first place with a 44.66 average and a best single of 36.03, ahead of Elias Antonio Alvarez Ramos who registered 45.85 and José Lisandro Velásquez Martínez with 49.32. Flores Hernández added a fourth title in 3x3x3 One-Handed, completing his weekend work with a 20.61 average and a 14.64 single in the single-round contest.

Record books were rewritten in multiple formats throughout the cubing competition. José Lisandro Velásquez Martínez dominated the Megaminx by setting a new national record single of 58.03 and a national record average of 1:03.08 to capture the event title. Elias Antonio Alvarez Ramos also etched his name into the record sheets by logging a national record single of 2.68 in Pyraminx on his way to winning the event with a 5.57 average. Alvarez Ramos doubled his victory count by securing first place in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, solving the puzzle in 40 moves to lead a field of eight challengers.

Big cubes and specialty puzzles rounded out the podium landscape at Nacionales Honduras 2026. Luis David Hernández Mejía showcased distance-solving prowess by winning the 5x5x5 Cube in an average of 1:24.19 and taking the 7x7x7 Cube with a 4:33.38 average. In 6x6x6 Cube, Dorian Ernesto Rosales Rodriguez captured top honours with a 3:03.14 average. Meanwhile, Connor Weed from the United States earned three titles, taking Skewb in 6.22, Clock in 11.32, and Square-1 in 13.06, leading international representation where Honduras claimed 37 podium spots and the United States took five.

Away from the top steps of the podium, significant personal milestones unfolded across the tables. Santiago Andres Garcia Midence produced major breakthroughs, slicing his 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 63.1 percent down to 3.35 and improving his 3x3x3 Cube mark by 44.8 percent to 19.66 on his way to finishing 4th in Megaminx. David Alejandro Aguilar Cerrato made his first career attempts in Clock with a 53.01 and Skewb with a 59.95, while dropping his 3x3x3 Cube personal best by 30.6 percent to 59.99 across five entered events. Joseph Misael López Cortez tackled his first official attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 47.64 and Skewb at 13.18, pairing those milestones with a 23.1 percent improvement in Pyraminx to 5.94. As the 2026 season moves forward, the benchmark set in Siguatepeque stands as clear proof of the rising technical level across the national speedcubing community.
