Cancino Bruna Dominates Nacionales Chilenas 2025 Across Six Events in ConcepcionEnglish
Claudio Matias Cancino Bruna delivered an emphatic masterclass at Nacionales Chilenas 2025, capturing six individual titles across a commanding three days of competition. His defining triumph arrived in the classic Rubik's Cube final, where he posted a remarkable 6.59 winning average alongside a best single of 5.82 to clear a stacked field of 73 entrants. As early fixtures in the 2025 calendar year establish the competitive baseline for the months ahead, this weekend gathering in Concepcion, Chile served as an intense showcase of top-tier ability and early-season sharpness across every puzzle category.
Staged at Universidad Santo Tomas from February 7 to February 9, the major national meet drew 76 competitors to contest 16 distinct events spread across 35 rounds. The sheer breadth of the schedule provided a grueling test of endurance and versatile dexterity. Speedcubing enthusiasts followed the 3x3 results closely, but the weekend quickly expanded into an exhaustive tour through big cubes, blindfolded disciplines, side events, and short formats that pushed contenders through round after round of pressure.
Cancino Bruna established his control early and never yielded ground across the larger cubic puzzles. In the 4x4x4 Cube final, he secured first place with a 26.78 average, outlasting Felipe Medel at 27.23 and Diego Nunez at 29.80. He carried that same rhythm directly into 5x5x5 Cube, claiming victory with a 48.96 average ahead of Medel and Agustin Mera Landa. The bigger hardware proved no obstacle either, as Cancino Bruna wrapped up first-place finishes in 6x6x6 Cube with a 1:37.06 average and 7x7x7 Cube with a 2:35.73 average, before securing the 3x3x3 One-Handed title with a 12.34 average mark.
Sprint events brought intense parity to the tables throughout the busy schedule at Nacionales Chilenas 2025. In 2x2x2 Cube, Gabriel Alonso Ibanez Miranda topped the 60-person roster with a blistering 1.40 winning average, finishing ahead of Jose Basaes at 1.98 and Dante Navarro Vera at 1.99. Basaes claimed gold of his own in Square-1 by recording an 11.36 average to best Irenco Pena Henriquez and Medel. Meanwhile, Michael Fonseca produced a superb multi-event run, seizing top honours in Pyraminx with a 3.00 average, Skewb with a 3.35 average, and Clock with a 4.53 winning mark.
Away from the top steps, several competitors celebrated major individual milestones across demanding schedules. Santiago Jarpa Saez tackled 12 separate events and recorded a Pyraminx personal best of 4.55, trimming his previous mark of 9.21 by 50.6 percent while also completing first-time official attempts in 7x7x7 Cube at 5:02.15 and Square-1 at 24.92.
