The MoT Cube Open 2026 delivered fifteen intense rounds of competition across nine separate disciplines on May 9 and May 10, 2026. Solvers gathered from across the region to test their preparation on the tournament stage, bringing speed cubing excitement to a bustling venue. Across two full days, the tournament proved how vibrant the scene in southern India continues to be.

Muhammed Shehzad Khan anchored the event for the home nation by capturing the premier 3x3x3 Cube title in front of an enthusiastic gathering in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Khan set the standard through both rounds, ultimately securing first place in the finals with a winning average of 8.26 seconds alongside the tournament best single of 7.51 seconds. Nirmal Reddy claimed the second spot on the podium with a 9.45 average, edging Vishesh Shetty from the United States, who took third place with a 9.46 mark in a tight battle for the 3x3 results.

The classic Rubik's Cube was far from the only puzzle yielding fast times, as Ankit A produced a remarkable triple-victory showcase throughout the weekend. Ankit took the top spot in 2x2x2 Cube with a 2.67 winning average and a 1.47 single, finishing ahead of VJ Raghav Vidya Sagar and Nirmal Reddy, who tied on 3.01 averages. Ankit doubled up with a gold in 4x4x4 Cube, posting a winning average of 39.44 seconds, and rounded out his dominant tournament run by topping the Clock standings with a 5.91 average.

Ritesh R Nair delivered another standout individual performance across multiple formats. Nair earned first place in 3x3x3 One-Handed with an average of 16.42 seconds and a 14.86 single, holding off a strong charge from Vishesh Shetty at 16.58 and Muhammed Shehzad Khan at 17.64. Nair returned to the table to claim victory in Skewb, posting a winning average of 3.49 seconds. He also secured a silver medal in the 4x4x4 Cube, clocking a 39.90 average to finish right behind Ankit in a tight two-way contest.

The MoT Cube Open 2026 also featured an extraordinary test of spatial memory and mental endurance in the blindfolded disciplines. Sukesh Kumar captured the 3x3x3 Blindfolded crown with a decisive winning single of 52.64 seconds, finishing ahead of Shanie Kerstin K, who clocked 1:03.84, and Daniel M. James at 1:52.65. James rebounded in dramatic fashion during 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, securing first place by successfully resolving 5 out of 5 cubes in 36 minutes and 11 seconds, besting Khan, who delivered a clean 3 out of 3 in 13 minutes and 57 seconds.

Beyond the championship trophies, this WCA competition served as a proving ground for several rising solvers who delivered massive personal breakthroughs. Shreyas Kiran highlighted the weekend with dramatic drops across three events, cutting his Skewb personal best by 52.5 percent down to 4.53 seconds to take 7th place, trimming 29.9 percent off his 2x2x2 Cube mark with 3.37, and reducing his 3x3x3 Cube best by 16.9 percent to 13.77. Johan Deepak Paul took on seven events and carved 54 percent off his Clock personal best down to 36.16 seconds, cut 31.5 percent off his 3x3x3 One-Handed time to 41.88, and logged a first ever attempt in Pyraminx at 7.63 seconds. Saket Varier tackled six events, achieving a 35.9 percent Skewb personal best of 10.36 seconds, a 22 percent Clock improvement to 25.74, and completing a first ever attempt at 4x4x4 Cube in 2:10.26. Harish Kumar registered for seven events, dropping his Pyraminx mark by 34 percent to 7.43 seconds, while recording first attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 1:13.24 and 4x4x4 Cube at 1:24.56.

The progress continued across the scorecards as other dedicated competitors expanded their repertoires with ambitious multi-discipline schedules. Ronak Rajesh improved his Pyraminx personal best by 32.7 percent to 6.08 seconds while completing first ever attempts in 2x2x2 Cube at 5.08 and Skewb at 10.25 across his four events. Maheswar C Ratheesh cut 21.9 percent off his Pyraminx mark down to 11.39 seconds and recorded first attempts in Clock at 40.95 and 4x4x4 Cube at 1:47.78. Pranav N Menon secured a 14th place finish in 2x2x2 Cube with a 16 percent personal best improvement to 3.78 seconds, alongside debut attempts in 3x3x3 One-Handed at 45.08 and 4x4x4 Cube at 1:09.62. Tesvin Raju Therattil took on five events, finishing 13th in Pyraminx while logging first ever attempts in 2x2x2 Cube at 5.92, Pyraminx at 5.08, and 4x4x4 Cube at 1:00.51.

In the Pyraminx division, Pranay secured top honours in a thrilling final round, posting a 4.45 winning average to lead a tightly contested podium. Nirmal Reddy took second place with a 4.53 mark, while Ankit A collected another medal with a 4.55 average for third place. Across every round, the cubing competition showcased sharp execution and deep local talent across standard and specialty puzzles alike.

When the final solves were tallied, Indian competitors secured 24 podium placements across the nine events, alongside three podium finishes earned by the United States. The MoT Cube Open 2026 proved to be an outstanding showcase of speedcubing talent in Kerala, providing a vibrant weekend of fast times, multi-event triumphs, and unforgettable personal milestones for all involved.

मुख्य 3x3x3 Cube स्पर्धा में 68 प्रतिभागियों ने हिस्सा लिया, जहां दो राउंड के कड़े मुकाबले के बाद Muhammed Shehzad Khan ने 8.26 के औसत के साथ पहला स्थान हासिल किया। उनका सर्वश्रेष्ठ सिंगल 7.51 रहा। इस स्पर्धा में Nirmal Reddy 9.45 के औसत के साथ दूसरे स्थान पर रहे, जबकि United States के Vishesh Shetty ने 9.46 के औसत के साथ तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त कर भारत के दबदबे के बीच अपनी मौजूदगी दर्ज कराई।

यह सप्ताहांत उन खिलाड़ियों के लिए भी खास रहा जिन्होंने पहली बार स्पीडक्यूबिंग की आधिकारिक प्रतियोगिता में कदम रखा। Adridev SP ने अपने पहले आयोजन में 4 स्पर्धाओं में भाग लिया, 3x3x3 One-Handed में 15वां स्थान हासिल किया, 24.89 का समय दिया और 3x3x3 Cube में 12.92 तथा 2x2x2 Cube में 5.34 का पहला प्रयास दर्ज किया। Adityanath KS ने 4 स्पर्धाओं में उतरकर 2x2x2 Cube में 4.66, Pyraminx में 11.47 और 3x3x3 One-Handed में 1:03.62 का पहला प्रयास किया। Dennis Sujith ने 5 स्पर्धाएं चुनकर 2x2x2 Cube में 12.36, Pyraminx में 14.67 और 3x3x3 One-Handed में 1:21.14 का पहला प्रयास पूरा किया। Rakhul Krishna U ने 5 स्पर्धाओं में भाग लेते हुए 3x3x3 Cube में 40.31, Pyraminx में 14.67 और Skewb में 47.79 का अपना पहला आधिकारिक समय बनाया।

आंखों पर पट्टी बांधकर हल करने वाली स्पर्धाओं में भी असाधारण एकाग्रता दिखी। 3x3x3 Blindfolded स्पर्धा में Sukesh Kumar ने 52.64 के सिंगल समय के साथ खिताबी जीत दर्ज की, जबकि Shanie Kerstin K 1:03.84 के साथ दूसरे और Daniel M.
