Luke Garrett Sweeps Four Titles as Minxville Indiana 2025 Delivers DramaEnglish

Inside the spacious hall of Hoosier Harvest Church, the rhythmic clack of plastic pieces echoed across rows of competition tables. Timers flashed green, hands hovered over mats, and judges leaned in closely to watch every turn. A crowd of 82 competitors gathered in Martinsville, Indiana, USA on June 7, 2025, ready to test their preparation across six distinct disciplines. The atmosphere carried the distinct focus of a major speedcubing gathering, where mere fractions of a second decide podium places and months of practice culminate in five brief solves.

The premier event reached its peak during the final round of the 3x3x3 Cube, where the race for the title came down to the very last solve of the session. Luke Garrett maintained steady execution under pressure to capture first place with a winning average of 5.66 seconds, punctuated by a best single of 4.72 seconds. Brian Johnson pushed hard to take second place with a 6.40 average, while Eli Parker rounded out the top three at 6.59. The 3x3 results capped a fiercely contested bracket of 81 competitors across two demanding rounds of classic Rubik's Cube solving.

Garrett spent much of the afternoon atop the standings, securing four individual event victories across the single-day WCA competition. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, Garrett posted a 9.07 winning average alongside a 7.92 single to finish ahead of Eli Parker with 10.86 and Brian Johnson with 11.05. Switching to larger hardware in the 5x5x5 Cube, Garrett claimed the title with an average of 47.06 seconds and a fast single of 43.58. Kate Grahame earned the silver position with a 50.64 average, followed closely by Ethan Cho in third place with 51.48.

The 3x3x3 Blindfolded contest added another layer of technical difficulty to Garrett's heavy schedule, demanding total memorisation before turning the puzzle sight unseen. Garrett secured the victory with a single time of 39.97 seconds, finishing ahead of Zeke Mackay who logged a 1:05.26 and Kate Grahame who completed a successful solve in 1:15.71. Across every round and format, the level of precision remained remarkably high as competitors adjusted to different mechanical challenges throughout the weekend schedule.

In the specialty events, Zeke Mackay delivered a standout performance in Pyraminx to earn the championship with an average of 2.71 seconds and a 2.05 single. Cyrus Gearhart followed in second place with an average of 2.85 seconds, while Brian Johnson reached the podium once again with a 3.33 mark. Meanwhile, the Megaminx tournament spanned three full rounds, concluding with Nicolas Naing taking gold behind a 29.73 average and a 27.70 single. Mackay claimed silver with 35.27, and Tyler Robinson finished third with a 37.05 average.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors delivered massive personal breakthroughs across the weekend. Asher Todd took on three events and achieved a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 20.52 seconds, trimming 57 percent off his previous benchmark, while also logging his first ever attempt at Pyraminx in 17.56 and his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 One-Handed in 1:01.83.
