Ben Baron Leads Comprehensive Podium Sweep for Host Nation in Pardes Hana - KarkurEnglish

Ben Baron turned in an extraordinary multi-discipline showcase at Mike's Cubes Israel 2025, capturing three separate titles in a tournament completely swept by Israeli competitors. In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded final, Baron secured the top spot with a remarkable winning single of 18.37 seconds across three rounds of intense mental focus. That triumph was only part of his dominant weekend, which saw domestic solvers claim all fifteen available podium places across five official events at the Shoham Geriatric Center in Pardes Hana - Karkur, Israel on April 6, 2025.

The 2025 gathering brought together 63 competitors across 10 rounds of high-pressure speedcubing action. While standard 3x3 results often command the spotlight in classic Rubik's Cube circles, this cubing competition offered a balanced mix of traditional speed events, side puzzles, and extreme memory challenges. The host nation controlled every single podium step from start to finish, showcasing remarkable depth throughout the entire official WCA competition schedule.

Baron added a second gold medal in the 2x2x2 Cube, where 59 competitors battled across two rounds. Delivering a winning average of 1.39 seconds alongside a best single of 1.23 seconds, Baron edged out Ben Matyas, who took second place with a 1.54 average, and Yoav Vishne, who finished third with a 1.58 average. The event proved to be a hotbed of rapid times, highlighting the technical precision required on the smaller mechanical puzzle.

The blindfolded categories demanded sheer concentration, requiring competitors to memorize the puzzle entirely before donning a blindfold to execute their turns. In the 4x4x4 Blindfolded event, Baron took his third victory of Mike's Cubes Israel 2025 by recording a winning single of 3:25.69 among 14 contenders. Mark Sander earned second place with a time of 4:17.61, while Yoad Yahalom Weiss secured third in 5:31.77. Sander had also taken second behind Baron in 3x3x3 Blindfolded with a 32.79, just ahead of Liav Bengayev in third at 33.88.

Beyond the podiums, individual progress defined the competition floor as competitors achieved major milestones across the board. Ofek Rimock tackled five events during the weekend, earning a career-best fifth-place finish in 4x4x4 Blindfolded with a first ever official attempt of 23:41.00, while lowering their 3x3x3 Blindfolded personal best to 1:53.77 from 8:08.90, an improvement of 76.7 percent, alongside a Skewb personal best of 10.87. Sagi Stone took on three separate events for the first time, logging initial career marks of 17.30 in Pyraminx, 12.41 in Skewb, and 28.40 in the 2x2x2 Cube. Meanwhile, Itay Mizrachi posted a first ever 3x3x3 Blindfolded single of 4:01.18, shaved 24.7 percent off their Pyraminx best down to 9.83, and reduced their Skewb mark by 14.9 percent to 11.97.

The momentum continued as Saar Kotlyar registered a first ever Skewb attempt of 45.78, improved their 2x2x2 Cube best by 17.7 percent to 33.00, and marked a Pyraminx single of 21.63. Ido Tauman produced a massive jump in Pyraminx efficiency, finishing in 5.05 seconds to outpace their previous best of 9.96 by 49.3 percent. Ido Dahan recorded a first ever 3x3x3 Blindfolded result of 3:05.59 and cut their Pyraminx personal best by 19.9 percent to 5.45 seconds. Omer Sidi rounded out the breakthrough performances by completing a first Pyraminx attempt in 8.28 seconds and improving their Skewb best by 17 percent to 9.49.

The side events delivered equally compelling drama in the final rounds. Netanel Pour topped a 53-person field in Pyraminx with a winning average of 1.86 seconds and a best single of 1.40. Yoel Khanin took the second step on the podium with a 2.34 average, while Baron collected another medal by placing third with a 2.93 average, reaffirming his consistent versatility across multiple disciplines.

Skewb concluded the action-packed schedule with 52 entrants challenging two rounds of twisting turns. Yoav Vishne climbed to the top of the podium with a winning average of 2.77 seconds and an event-best single of 1.88. Baron secured the runner-up spot with an average of 3.34 seconds, and Talia Albaranes rounded out the podium in third with an average of 3.75, cementing another clean sweep for domestic solvers.

From lightning-quick sprints on the 2x2x2 Cube to marathon memory feats in the blindfolded disciplines, Mike's Cubes Israel 2025 delivered an exceptional showcase of technical skill. The single-day speed cubing gathering in Pardes Hana - Karkur underlined the competitive strength of the local community, setting a high standard of performance as participants look ahead to the next season of tournament play.
