Yoav Vishne and Netanel Pour Lead the Way at Mike's Cubes 2023English

The competition floor inside the historic בית העם was filled with steady focus on May 9, 2023, as competitors set down their timers and prepared their puzzles. The hum of plastic turning and the click of precision hardware set the tone before any official times went onto the board. Competitors made their way from various communities across the country to גני עם, Israel, dedicating their travel time to test their practice against the clock. Across three featured events and seven total rounds, Mike's Cubes 2023 gave thirty-eight participants a stage to measure their progress.

The journey into גני עם, Israel brought together a compact field hungry for sharp execution. Long before the finals arrived, groups of solvers gathered around the warm-up tables to talk through scramble patterns, compare turning techniques, and log practice averages. For many traveling to this WCA competition, the single-day schedule meant arriving ready to deliver maximum performance across multiple formats without the luxury of extra days to settle in.

The classic Rubik's Cube brought all thirty-eight competitors to the solving stations across three complete rounds of action. Yoav Vishne established command in the final round of 3x3x3 Cube, posting a winning average of 7.75 seconds to secure first place alongside a best single of 6.85. Idan Sahar captured second place with a final average of 9.29, while Liav Bengayev earned the third step on the podium with an average of 9.52 in a tightly contested top three.

The official 3x3 results throughout the earlier rounds also highlighted steady, rapid turning through the bracket. Liav Bengayev notched a single of 8.82 and an average of 9.81 on his way through the event, while Inbar Segal logged a single of 9.55 paired with an 11.24 average. Levi Krassenstein delivered a 9.83 single and an 11.31 average, followed by Erez Orlovsky who registered a 10.98 single and a 12.54 average, showing the depth of the field in the premier category.

Beyond the standard three-by-three format, Square-1 tested twenty-eight competitors across two rounds of intricate shape-shifting solves. Netanel Pour topped the podium in Square-1, taking victory with an impressive 9.10 average and an event-best single of 8.99. Libi Wohlfeiler Kahaty locked in second place with an average of 10.26, and Yair Ron followed closely to take third place with a 10.51 average, completing an all-Israeli podium in the discipline.

Solving while completely blindfolded requires total memorisation of piece positions followed by flawless execution without visual feedback. In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded event, Liav Bengayev claimed the top spot across two rounds among sixteen contenders by registering a winning single of 34.24 seconds. Rotem Ifrach finished in second position with a clean single of 1:19.09, while Tuval Stone secured third place with a time of 2:14.58 to conclude the blind solving schedule.
