Saboya Soto Secures Four Wins as Close Battles Define Metrópolis Bogotá 2025English

Inside Centro Comercial Metrópolis, the persistent rhythmic clatter of plastic mechanisms echoed through the retail corridors as timers flashed red and green. Competitors sat hunched over timing mats, hands hovering in precise anticipation, while judges stood poised with score sheets. The bustling floor of Bogotá, Colombia hosted Metrópolis Bogotá 2025 on June 15, 2025, bringing together an eager lineup of 43 solvers across 11 rounds of intense play. The atmosphere combined high concentration with rapid-fire solving across five distinct puzzle categories.

The fiercest contest of the entire gathering unfolded on the Pyraminx table, where the final podium placements were decided by mere fractions of a second. Juan Miguel Saboya Soto edged out Manuel Francisco Beltrán for the title by a microscopic margin of just thirteen hundredths of a second, finishing with an average of 3.29 against Beltrán's 3.42. Jacob Goossens Celis captured the third spot on the podium with a 4.57 average, concluding an electrifying two-round clash where every single turn of the tetrahedral puzzle mattered.

Precision under pressure also dictated the outcome in the 2x2x2 Cube division, where the podium margins were nearly as compressed. Dereck Samuel Marin Suarez emerged victorious with an average of 2.70, having posted the fastest single of the event at 2.01. Kevin Vanegas Diaz followed closely behind to claim second place with a 2.86 average, while Juan Sebastian Mendez Llanos secured third at 2.93. The tight spread of under a quarter of a second across the top three showcased the intense level of speedcubing on display throughout the day.

Beyond the smaller puzzles, Juan Miguel Saboya Soto established dominant form across multiple formats. In the 3x3x3 Cube, the premier Rubik's Cube category featuring 39 competitors across three rounds, Saboya Soto secured first place with a 6.36 winning average and a top single of 5.87. Thomas Cabezas took second place with an 8.20 average, while Martin Castillo earned third with an 8.64 average. These standout 3x3 results anchored a memorable performance during the busy one-day cubing competition.

Saboya Soto continued his winning sweep across the remaining specialty disciplines at Metrópolis Bogotá 2025. In 3x3x3 One-Handed, he claimed the gold medal with a 14.01 average, comfortably ahead of Luis Angel Contreras Ospina at 16.47 and Juan Sebastian Mendez Llanos at 17.90. The Clock event produced another first-place finish for Saboya Soto with a 3.94 average, holding off Dereck Samuel Marin Suarez at 4.26 and Cristhian Damián Fernández Pineda at 5.66, ensuring that all 15 podium places across the weekend were swept by Colombian competitors.
