High Stakes and Tight Margins Define mcubes Alleppey Open 2025English

Muhammed Ameen demonstrated the unforgiving nature of mean-of-3 formats by claiming victory in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded final with a single solve of 44.54 seconds. In an event where competitor averages hinge on completing all three attempts without an error, the lack of recorded mean averages across the field illustrated how costly a single mistake can be when solving purely from memory. Ameen secured top honours, followed by Ritesh R Nair at 1:51.03 and Arun Kannan at 2:32.33.

Held across November 22 to November 23 at Little Flower Public School in Kalavoor, mcubes Alleppey Open 2025 brought together 33 competitors in Alappuzha, Kerala, India. The cubing competition featured 8 distinct events spanning 14 total rounds of play. Across every bracket, participants had to navigate tight margins where misjudging a single turn could derail an entire round, testing the consistency of seasoned contenders and emerging talents alike.

The premier 3x3x3 Cube event drew the weekend's largest field of 27 competitors across three demanding rounds. Muhammed Shehzad Khan produced steady, high-calibre solving to capture first place with a winning average of 9.42 seconds and a best single time of 7.77 seconds. Zaeem Abdullah Naseef finished as the runner-up with an average of 10.15 seconds, while VP Ajin Sreekumar took the third step on the podium with a 10.89-second mark in the 3x3 results.

Ritesh R Nair assembled a standout weekend in Alappuzha, picking up two individual titles and multiple podium appearances. In the 2x2x2 Cube final, Nair claimed the gold with a 3.57-second average, edging out Ankit A who registered 3.73 seconds and Sai Mrudhun who logged 3.84 seconds. Nair added another victory in the single-round Skewb competition, winning with an average of 4.35 seconds over Sulaiman Mohammed Kabeer at 6.20 and Ankit A at 6.47.

Ankit A also enjoyed a double-victory performance at this WCA competition, demonstrating exceptional versatility across radically different puzzles. In the 4x4x4 Cube, Ankit won decisively with an average of 34.23 seconds and a single of 31.11, finishing ahead of Nair at 42.84 and Hemvarshan Muthukumar at 43.02. Ankit repeated that success in Clock, topping the standings with an average of 6.65 seconds, followed by Nair at 7.61 and Muthukumar at 9.09.

Away from the top of the podium, several solvers delivered substantial personal breakthroughs on the tournament floor. Karthik Abhilash took on five disciplines, achieving a best finish of 6th place in Pyraminx with a personal best of 5.40 seconds that cut 54.5 percent off his previous record, alongside a first ever attempt at Skewb clocking 8.86 seconds and a 3x3x3 Cube best of 17.67 seconds.
