Manchester Cubing League - First 2026 Delivers Multi-Discipline ActionEnglish

The competition hall at 422 Manchester hummed with steady activity on April 25, 2026, as tables filled with timers, mats, and an assortment of distinct twisty puzzles. Across six rounds of play, forty-six competitors gathered in Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, shifting their focus across four contrasting disciplines. From rapid sprints on miniature cubes to the geometric challenges of tetrahedral puzzles and deliberate theoretical solving, the single-day gathering tested a wide spectrum of dexterity and spatial reasoning at the tables.

Speedcubing enthusiasts navigating the schedule experienced dramatic shifts in pacing throughout the day. A classic Rubik's Cube requires balanced turning technique and pattern recognition, whereas the pocket cube demands explosive turn speed and instant inspection planning. Further expanding the range, the triangular Pyraminx introduced unique turning axes and fingertricks, while the deliberate challenge of Fewest Moves stripped away physical speed entirely in favour of analytical efficiency.

The flagship 3x3x3 Cube event drew a field of forty-two competitors through two stages of head-to-head racing. Danny Morgan led the 3x3 results by securing first place with a winning average of 6.94 seconds, highlighted by the best single of the event at 6.08 seconds. Caleb Wolf Dunn earned second place with a 7.24 average, while Benjamin Espinosa secured third on the podium with an average of 7.59 seconds in a tightly contested final round.

Danny Morgan also claimed the top spot on the podium in the 2x2x2 Cube, delivering a decisive winning average of 1.50 seconds alongside an event-best single of 1.11 seconds across two rounds. Daniel Robinson followed in second place with an average of 1.90 seconds, just ahead of Jacob Sherwen Brown, who captured third with a mark of 1.95 seconds. The fast-paced category featured thirty-eight entrants and provided some of the quickest turn sequences seen at the WCA competition.

In the Pyraminx event, thirty-four entrants tackled the tetrahedral puzzle across a single round of competition. Caleb Wolf Dunn captured the victory with a 2.02 winning average and the best single time of 1.84 seconds. Jason Harley took second place on the podium with a 2.65 average, while Danny Morgan completed his multi-podium day by securing third place with an average mark of 2.93 seconds.

The contrast in disciplines was most pronounced in 3x3x3 Fewest Moves, where nineteen entrants spent sixty minutes per attempt seeking the most efficient solutions on paper. Fabio Schwandt secured the top position with a winning average of 25.67 moves, also posting the single best result of 24 moves. Harry Savage placed second with an average of 28.00 moves, edging out Danny Morgan on countback, who also logged an average of 28.00 moves to take third.

Away from the podium battles, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones across their individual schedules. Viktoriia Andreeva took on three events, posting her first ever attempt at 2x2x2 Cube with a 6.66 single, her first ever Pyraminx attempt with 13.35, and a 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 21.85 seconds that was 43.2 percent faster than her previous mark. Deen Andrzejczak dropped their 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 37.5 percent to 3.66 seconds, while Jane Frohwein tackled four events and improved her 3x3x3 Fewest Moves personal best by 22.8 percent down to 44 moves.

Husna U. Khan competed across three events, lowering her 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 21.4 percent to 7.06 seconds alongside a 17.21 personal best in 3x3x3 Cube. Nathan Diep took on the 3x3x3 Cube and carved 20.4 percent off his personal best to finish at 14.39 seconds. Vi Dinh registered a new 3x3x3 Cube personal best of 6.15 seconds, representing a 20.1 percent improvement. Lucas Egginton completed their first WCA competition by entering three events, recording debut marks of 19.35 on 3x3x3 Cube, 5.33 on 2x2x2 Cube, and 9.96 on Pyraminx. Neil Harold Mithun also made their competition debut across three disciplines, logging maiden marks of 1:16.71 on 3x3x3 Cube, 18.41 on 2x2x2 Cube, and 14.44 on Pyraminx.

The single-day meet highlighted the versatility required to navigate varied mechanical formats within modern speed cubing. Competitors from the United Kingdom swept all twelve podium places across the four disciplines, concluding a dense schedule of sixty-second algorithmic puzzles and split-second sprints. As the tournament drew to a close, Manchester Cubing League - First 2026 stood as a showcase of puzzle diversity and dedicated execution on the 2026 regional calendar.
