Eskil Munthe and Ruben Norén Gustafsson Lead the Charge at Lundablindan 2026English

Eleven competitors gathered in Lund, Sweden on April 12, 2026, to test their skills across seven demanding disciplines at Mattehuset LTH. The single-day WCA competition brought together specialist solvers for eight action-packed rounds of play. While standard speedcubing meets frequently highlight classic short-form sprints, this event showcased big puzzles and memory-heavy events, drawing entrants ready to push their boundaries across complex formats. From the opening turns to the final blindfolded attempts, the atmosphere remained focused as competitors tackled some of the most rigorous categories recognized by the World Cube Association.

The blindfolded categories took center stage throughout the competition, demanding intense concentration and precise execution without sight of the pieces. Eskil Munthe established an impressive presence across the memory disciplines, claiming victory in three separate blindfolded events. In the 3x3x3 Blindfolded category, which held two full rounds of competition, Munthe secured the top spot on the podium with a winning single of 36.44 seconds. Kacper Paweł Dworak of Poland followed closely in second place with a time of 41.74 seconds, while Isac Lindqvist locked down third place with a mark of 48.77 seconds.

Munthe expanded his golden run into the extended blindfolded formats later in the day. In the 4x4x4 Blindfolded event, where seven competitors attempted the complex solve, Munthe took first place with a single solve of 2:41.89, finishing ahead of Lindqvist, who earned second place in 6:46.19, and Viktor Zenk, who claimed third in 7:44.93. The 3x3x3 Multi-Blind event brought another premier showing from Munthe, who successfully solved 18 out of 20 cubes within a time of 56:41. Dworak placed second with 16 out of 17 cubes in 58:33, while Zenk achieved third place with 15 out of 19 cubes in exactly 1:00:00.

The 5x5x5 Blindfolded competition provided one of the most grueling tests of the entire meet, featuring six registered solvers attempting to memorize and execute the enormous piece count. Isac Lindqvist emerged triumphant, capturing first place with a successful single of 13:37.00. Kacper Paweł Dworak earned his third podium finish of the weekend by taking second place with a time of 19:46.00. The remaining four competitors, Zenk, Ruben Norén Gustafsson, Ville Vasilis, and Munthe, all logged DNFs, illustrating the immense precision required to complete the largest blindfolded challenge on the schedule.

Beyond the memory events, the big cube competitions generated rapid times and fierce battles at the top of the standings. Ruben Norén Gustafsson delivered a commanding performance in the 5x5x5 Cube, besting an eleven-player field with a winning average of 1:02.73 and a tournament-best single of 58.53 seconds. Frank Lindblom took second place with an average of 1:05.62, edging out Munthe, who finished third with an average of 1:05.86. Gustafsson repeated his winning form in the 6x6x6 Cube, taking first place with an average of 1:58.09, ahead of Munthe at 2:03.24 and Edvin Jansson at 2:03.70.

The biggest standard puzzle of the schedule, the 7x7x7 Cube, saw Edvin Jansson rise to the top of the standings. Jansson recorded the best single of the event at 2:56.62 and posted a winning average of 3:05.99 to take the gold medal. Ville Vasilis put together a consistent series of solves to claim second place with a 3:11.24 average, while Ruben Norén Gustafsson rounded out the podium positions in third place with an average of 3:15.57. The result added another medal for the Swedish contingent, which secured 21 total podium positions across the tournament.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors made substantial strides in their personal development across multiple disciplines. Noah von d'Ahé entered five different events and made his first ever attempt at 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, scoring 2/4 in 32:53, alongside a first ever attempt at the 5x5x5 Cube that produced a 1:50.42 single, while also securing a weekend-best 5th place finish in 4x4x4 Blindfolded. Meanwhile, Jesper Nilsson achieved major time drops across the big cubes, posting a 6x6x6 Cube personal best of 2:25.29 to improve by 5.2 percent over his previous mark of 2:33.30, dropping his 7x7x7 Cube personal best by 4.8 percent to 3:18.41, and recording a personal best of 1:24.41 in the 5x5x5 Cube on his way to 4th place in 7x7x7.

The gathering served as a pure showcase of specialized Rubik's Cube mastery in southern Sweden, highlighting the dedication needed for blindfolded solving and massive layer counts. Every cubing competition offers its own character, and this one favored endurance, memory, and spatial mastery over standard short-burst solving. Even without standalone two-handed 3x3 results on the board, the blindfolded 3x3 rounds brought world-class focus to the tables of Lund. The speed cubing community in the region continues to prove its depth across technical, high-difficulty formats.

As Lundablindan 2026 concluded, the eleven entrants walked away with strong marks across eight rounds of elite competition. With multiple victories from Munthe and Norén Gustafsson, standout efforts from Lindqvist and Jansson, and strong international representation from Poland via Dworak, the event delivered high-quality speedcubing from start to finish. The competitors will now look ahead to future stops on the calendar, carrying valuable experience and newly set personal milestones into the remainder of the 2026 season.

Stort fokus under Lundablindan 2026 i Mattehuset LTHSvenska
