Matheus Oliveira Martins Dominates Speed Events at Ligerim Goiânia 2026English

Inside the halls of Shopping Gallo in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil, the rapid clack of turning plastic set the tempo for an intense day of competition. Speedcubers took their seats at the timing stations on April 4, 2026, inspecting scrambled puzzles under the focused lights of the competition area. With thirty-six competitors assembled across three fast-paced events, the single-day gathering provided an electric showcase of precision turning and fast reactions from the very first round of the morning.

The tournament focused heavily on pure sprint solving, with the schedule built around explosive, rapid-fire disciplines. Speedcubing action reached high intensity in the 2x2x2 Cube and the classic 3x3x3 Cube, where solving times were measured in fractions of a second. Across six rounds of competition, solvers pushed their execution to the limit, creating a memorable cubing competition that tested dexterity, mental composure, and ergonomic turning techniques on every single solve.

Matheus Oliveira Martins delivered the standout performance of the day in the speed disciplines, capturing top honours in both the 2x2x2 Cube and the 3x3x3 Cube. In the 3x3 event, which drew a tournament-high thirty-five competitors across two rounds, Martins posted a winning average of 8.37 seconds alongside a day-best single solve of 6.84 seconds. His consistent speed cubing at the top of the standings established the benchmark for the entire field during the 3x3 results showdown.

Martins matched his longer-puzzle success with supreme control in the 2x2x2 Cube, claiming the title with a tournament-winning average of 2.29 seconds and a blistering single of 1.52 seconds. João Victtor Rocha Leite claimed the runner-up spot in both events, securing second place in 3x3x3 with an average of 9.18 seconds and second in 2x2x2 with an average of 2.83 seconds. Matheus Carvalho Longo completed the 3x3x3 podium in third place with an average of 9.35 seconds, while Miguel Meireles Godoi took third in 2x2x2 with 3.41 seconds.

Away from the top of the podium, significant progress unfolded throughout the brackets as competitors achieved remarkable personal milestones. Ryan Terra Gontijo Amorim, competing in three events, logged major personal bests across the board, including a 7.05 single in Pyraminx that was 71.4 percent faster than his prior mark, a 6.53 in 2x2x2 that improved by 40 percent, and a 20.05 in 3x3x3 that dropped 12.2 percent. Joana Brandão de Godoy delivered substantial improvements across three events, lowering her 2x2x2 personal best by 54.1 percent to 3.05 seconds and her 3x3x3 mark by 33.7 percent down to 13.55 seconds.

First-time event appearances also highlighted the depth of the field at this WCA competition. Pedro Uana Dunaev Bomfim contested three events and finished tenth overall in 3x3x3, recording first ever official attempts of 11.66 in 3x3x3, 4.78 in 2x2x2, and 8.35 in Pyraminx. Nicolas Reis Martins logged initial official attempts in all three disciplines, posting 14.76 in 3x3x3, 9.73 in Pyraminx, and 6.72 in 2x2x2. Arthur Florentino Baltazar de Paiva earned an eighth-place finish in 3x3x3, cutting his personal best by 25.4 percent to 11.18 seconds while making a first attempt at Pyraminx with 11.96. Miguel de Lima Ramos tackled three events, registering debut marks of 18.73 in 3x3x3 and 5.31 in 2x2x2. Matheus Eduardo Magalhães Ribeiro finished fourth in 3x3x3 and reduced his 2x2x2 best by 35.2 percent to 2.39 seconds, while Miguel Prudente Rabelo made a first official attempt in 2x2x2 with 13.76.

The triangular geometry of the Pyraminx added another layer of dynamic solving to the program, featuring twenty-one competitors over two rounds. Miguel Meireles Godoi earned the championship with a winning average of 3.28 seconds and the event single of 2.61 seconds. Caio Almeida Martins finished second with a solid 3.84 average, while Matheus Oliveira Martins earned his third podium of the meet by taking third place with a 4.75 average, ensuring all nine available podium places went to competitors representing Brazil.
