Jonathan Hummel Simensen completed the tight Norwegian sweep of the podium in third place with an average of 1.95 seconds.

The razor-thin margin set the tone for a commanding overall performance by Kim Roger Haraldsen, who claimed victories across five different disciplines at Lierskogen Vinterkubing 2026. In the classic Rubik's Cube, Haraldsen delivered consistent execution to claim top honors with a decisive final 3x3 results average of 7.65 seconds, backed by a tournament single of 6.97. Knut Skaug Haraldsen followed closely in the runner-up position with an average of 7.86 seconds, while Niklas Aasen Eliasson claimed third on the podium with an 8.79 mark in a competitive field of 76 entrants.

Haraldsen extended his dominance into one-handed solving, taking first place in 3x3x3 One-Handed with an average of 10.85 seconds and a single of 7.90 across two rounds of play. Knut Skaug Haraldsen took second place with an average of 11.79 seconds, and Ulrik Bredland reached third place on the podium with a 12.49 average. Across the big cube events at this WCA competition, Haraldsen remained unmatched, securing the 4x4x4 Cube crown in 27.42 seconds ahead of Eliasson and Knut Skaug Haraldsen, while also dominating the 5x5x5 Cube final with an average of 44.45 seconds.

Beyond the multi-layered cubes, the specialty events produced exceptional drama and variety throughout this cubing competition. In Clock, Niklas Aasen Eliasson held off a fierce challenge to win with an average of 3.47 seconds, edging Anders Barhaugen who finished second at 3.50 seconds, while Sigurd Volan Håvik took third place in 5.92 seconds. The Pyraminx final went to Stian Nystad Østli, whose rapid 2.52 winning average and 1.99 single earned gold over Eliasson at 3.04 and Simon Øgreid Ravnås at 3.16. Hennie Færden topped the Skewb standings with a 2.53 average, and Celine Tran won Megaminx with a 41.30 mark.

Away from the top steps of the podium, several competitors achieved remarkable milestones and personal breakthroughs across the weekend. Filip Saldivar Müller delivered massive strides in multiple events, dropping his Pyraminx personal best to 8.76 seconds from an 18.70 mark, an improvement of 53.2 percent, alongside a 52.2 percent leap in 3x3x3 One-Handed to 45.73 seconds, while also logging a first career Clock attempt of 14.26 seconds and finishing 19th in Megaminx. Johan Slåtten matched that aggressive progression by trimming his Skewb best by 61.9 percent down to 13.66 seconds, improving his Pyraminx mark by 47.7 percent to 10.14 seconds, and recording a first Clock solve of 29.79.

Victor Marstrander tackled a demanding schedule of nine events at Lierskogen Vinterkubing 2026, recording debut attempts in Megaminx at 3:27.72, 5x5x5 Cube at 3:04.30, and Clock at 29.24, with a weekend-best 21st place in Megaminx. Olav Holthe Christiansen took on four events, setting debut marks in Pyraminx with an 11.96 solve, 2x2x2 Cube at 4.63, and one-handed solving at 1:14.54. Emil Strandskogen registered a 2:52.74 first attempt in Megaminx, a 13.65 Clock debut, and an 18.1 percent improvement in 2x2x2 Cube to 5.52. Deborah Jane Wood produced first attempts in 2x2x2 Cube at 20.25 and Pyraminx at 22.61, while lowering her 3x3x3 personal best by 23.8 percent to 50.62 seconds.

Rounding out the notable individual campaigns, Olav Norvin Borud competed across nine categories, logging a Clock debut of 14.56 seconds, a 22.5 percent reduction in 3x3x3 Cube to 12.17 seconds, and a 17.3 percent gain in 5x5x5 Cube at 2:38.24. William Bredland Andersen notched a first Clock attempt of 41.93 seconds and reduced his Pyraminx personal best by 31 percent to 9.34 seconds. Their collective progress added depth to a packed program that saw new personal benchmarks achieved across every tier of the field.

Altogether, all 27 podium positions across nine distinct events were claimed by athletes representing Norway, highlighting the collective strength of regional speed cubing talent in 2026. Kim Roger Haraldsen markerte seg som helgens mestvinnende utøver ved å sikre seg førsteplassen i fem ulike disipliner. I hovedøvelsen 3x3x3 Rubiks kube vant han finalen med et gjennomsnitt på 7.65 foran Knut Skaug Haraldsen på 7.86 og Niklas Aasen Eliasson på 8.79. Haraldsens beste enkeltløsning i øvelsen klokket inn på 6.97 blant de 76 startende.

Haraldsen fortsatte den sterke rekken i de øvrige kubeformatene under helgens speedcubing-konkurranse. Han vant 2x2x2 Cube med et vinnende snitt på 1.82 like foran Eliassons 1.83 og Jonathan Hummel Simensens 1.95. I 3x3x3 One-Handed vant Haraldsen med 10.85 mot Knut Skaug Haraldsens 11.79 og Ulrik Bredlands 12.49. På de større kubene tok han seieren i 4x4x4 Cube med 27.42 og 5x5x5 Cube med 44.45.

I de øvrige øvelsene var det hard kamp om toppen på resultatlistene. Bak tetstriden bød helgen på mange sterke personlige prestasjoner og store forbedringer. Herman Josten Øfsti leverte en solid helg i 5 øvelser og forbedret sin personlige rekord på 4x4x4 Cube til 1:24.09, en forbedring på 40.8 prosent fra 2:22.01, i tillegg til 2.63 på 2x2x2 Cube og 10.27 på 3x3x3 Cube. Eli Lesteberg With kuttet 40.3 prosent på Skewb ned til 23.80 og forbedret sine tider på Clock til 25.51 og 3x3x3 Cube til 1:02.54. Marius Lesteberg With stilte i 6 øvelser, sikret 10. plass i Clock og satte personlige rekorder med 2.21 på 2x2x2 Cube, 25.92 på enhåndsløsing og 3.97 på Pyraminx. David Øksendal Myklebost gjorde sitt aller første offisielle forsøk på 2x2x2 Cube med tiden 4.92 og forbedret sin personlige rekord på 3x3x3 Cube med 15.5 prosent til 18.32.

For flere deltakere var dette deres aller første WCA competition. Aarash Godbole debuterte i offisiell sammenheng med hele 9 øvelser, inkludert første forsøk på 2x2x2 Cube med 5.97, Megaminx med 4:08.70 og 5x5x5 Cube med 5:08.02. Syver Tsolis Hellenes gjennomførte sin første konkurranse over 7 øvelser og noterte debutresultater på 18.41 på 3x3x3 Cube, 16.72 på Skewb og 1:54.40 på 4x4x4 Cube. Isaac Goldsworthy deltok for første gang og fullførte fem øvelser med 17.00 på Clock, 19.22 på 3x3x3 Cube og 51.88 på enhåndsløsing. Leon Schartum gjorde også sin konkurransedebut og noterte tider som 3:20.74 på 4x4x4 Cube, 15.68 på Pyraminx og 37.63 på 3x3x3 Cube.

Med samtlige 27 pallplasser fordelt blant norske deltakere ble Lierskogen Vinterkubing 2026 en helg preget av høyt tempo, bred deltakelse og krevende runder i Lier. Arrangementet markerte nok et vellykket kapittel for miljøet før neste sesongs stevner tar til.
