Czech Resoluteness Overcomes International Rivals Across Nine Events in LiberecEnglish

Forty-eight competitors converged in northern Bohemia for a fiercely contested international showdown on March 8 and 9, 2025. Hosted at Základní škola Vrchlického, Let's Solve Liberec 2025 delivered nineteen rounds of high-pressure puzzle solving across nine distinct categories. From the opening turns, the weekend framed a compelling regional rivalry between host Czech contenders, Polish visitors, and Ukrainian challengers. Across every bracket, the clash of styles and regional delegations established an electric pace, turning this speedcubing fixture into a showcase of tactical precision and national pride in Liberec, Czech Republic.

The centerpiece 3x3x3 Cube event drew 46 competitors through three demanding rounds of classic Rubik's Cube solving. In the final stage, the Czech contingent asserted total control over the podium. Adam Kořínek captured the title with a tournament-winning average of 8.22 seconds, highlighted by a tournament-best single solve of 7.58 seconds. David Nesiba claimed the silver spot with an 8.68 average, while Štěpán Schroll secured bronze at 8.79 seconds. These decisive 3x3 results demonstrated the extraordinary depth of Czech speed cubing on home soil, leaving no room for international rivals to sneak onto the main podium.

Tomáš Nguyen established himself as the weekend's most prolific force, seizing three gold medals and fueling the domestic defense. Nguyen dominated the 2x2x2 Cube final, posting a winning average of 1.64 seconds alongside a 1.53 single to hold off Poland's Bartosz Łebkowski, who took second at 2.07 seconds, and Emil Henry Huber in third at 3.28 seconds. Nguyen further asserted his mastery in the larger cubes, taking the 4x4x4 Cube crown in 30.47 seconds ahead of fellow Czech Jindřich Heissiger's 31.52, and claiming the 5x5x5 Cube with a 54.27 average, once again besting Heissiger's 57.77.

International challengers struck back decisively across specialized formats. Ukraine's Igor Tarasov proved to be a constant presence at the top of the standings, capturing the Megaminx title with an average of 39.41 seconds and a 33.34 single. Tarasov also secured third place in 4x4x4 Cube, 5x5x5 Cube, and Pyraminx, while taking silver in the 3x3x3 Blindfolded division with a 54.73 average behind Czech winner Jáchym Střelec, who averaged 46.65. Poland's contingent claimed key victories as well, with Bartosz Łebkowski taking the Clock title in 6.50 seconds and Filip Chudy winning Skewb in 3.91 seconds.

Away from the top of the podium, several competitors made monumental personal strides that revealed the quiet determination within the field. Martin Málek slashed his Skewb personal best down to 4.39 seconds, an improvement of 37.3 percent from his previous mark of 7.00, while also setting a new 3x3x3 Cube mark of 13.35 seconds across four events entered. Tobiáš Rupík took on four events and knocked 35.5 percent off his previous 4x4x4 Cube best with a 40.87 time, adding improvements in Pyraminx at 10.63 and 2x2x2 Cube at 2.83. Barnabáš Svoboda cut his 2x2x2 Cube personal best by 34.9 percent to 4.36 seconds and registered his first attempts in Megaminx with 2:24.72 and Pyraminx with 7.50.

The surge of breakthroughs continued across multiple divisions as competitors embraced new challenges. Přemysl Prachař contested six events and reached sixth in Megaminx at 1:19.63 alongside debut marks of 57.06 in 4x4x4 Cube and 2:34.92 in 5x5x5 Cube. Tomáš Sandrini logged initial marks in 4x4x4 Cube at 53.16, 2x2x2 Cube at 4.81, and Pyraminx at 7.26, while Vojtěch Bureš completed a first Skewb solve of 11.89 and lowered his 2x2x2 Cube time to 4.22.

The side event podiums maintained the relentless pace of regional competition. In Pyraminx, Emil Henry Huber delivered a winning 3.73 average for the Czech Republic, narrowly edging Nguyen's 3.81 and Tarasov's 4.07 in a tightly grouped finish. In the Clock category, Poland's Łebkowski fended off Czech challengers Jiří Vogl and Štěpán Schroll, who took second and third with averages of 6.63 and 6.72 seconds respectively. In Skewb, Chudy's Polish triumph was flanked by Tarasov at 5.40 and Nguyen at 5.42, demonstrating how slim margins decided silverware across disciplines.

When the final timers reset at Let's Solve Liberec 2025, the overall table reflected the balance of a hard-fought WCA competition.
